I just watched that episode and thought the exact same. I can get there's probably some whole rule about how to knock because 10 Downing Street and tradition etc, but all it takes is a gentle "you've probably never been here before, but just a reminder, don't knock too loudly". Self important bellend.

Speaking of visitors, in ep 6 the scene where Jeremy is going around selling his mushrooms to the other shops etc, there's crowds of tourists standing gawping with their phones out, more interested in the man than being at the shop for produce. Absolute state of these people. I'm not surprised his neighbours get peeved off with it.
People taking photos of quite big celebrity shocker.
Do we recon the Downing Street thing was genuine. Chap needs a reprimand if it is the case. Aweful behaviour.

fk off mate.
I suspect the producers felt the same, hence it being left in and the volume boosted.
I hope whoever visits next if they've seen this knocks very loudly. I know I would.

Just saw this bit. What an utter prick. He didn’t even knock hard! Mental. Glad they purposely left it in with the audio loud and clear.

Also Sunak comes across as such a Millhouse doesn’t he. The awkward sidekick of someone, really wanting to be cool laugh

I again enjoyed the series. Lisa was the star for me this year, she seems to work very hard, will put some graft in.

It's such a tough existence, I know JC has it much easier than most 'real' farmers but I'm sort of envious that he can have a play at being a farmer. I'd like to do it on a much smaller scale, but know I can't.

Looking forward to season 4. And I'll have to try and check out Harry M's farming stuff, see what that's like as a comparison.

I reckon it was staged. The door to No 10 opens as you approach, they know you are coming, are ready and you don't have to knock at all.

Yes it seemed very odd. If you go into No. 10 from the front door you do through the gate at the end of Downing Street. You then have to go through an airport style security portakabin style thing to the left and then out into the (Downing) street. You are obviously watched the whole time and they know when you walk up to the door.

Would be boring otherwise.

Millhouse he well may be, but I'd wager he can spot the difference between a documentary and a scripted entertainment show unlike some people...

I don’t know why it would be staged, as that would just make No 10 look bad, as it did. They wouldn’t agree to do it.

The guy genuinely sounded pissed off and angry that they had knocked.

I think it’s just what you said: The door staff know you are coming (there are loads of cameras and monitors for the door staff) and therefore they will open the door without you having to knock. You see it all the time when MP’s approach the door. It just opens.

If you do knock, I expect the protocol is that you knock once and very lightly, or something like that.

I think the fact they knocked to be let in just triggered the doorman as it isn’t ‘protocol’.

He just ended up sounding like an absolute jobsworth.

You think Downing Street said ‘yeah make us look like absolute fking pricks for no reason if it’ll give your show a laugh’?

Much more likely is that asked if they could knock as it made for better telly and the doorman said nothing and the whole exchange was added in edit.

Or they asked if they could knock as it made better telly, then had to have 7 goes at filming it and were obnoxious to the doorman throughout....

....or maybe it was real and they got lucky with a grumpy doorman.

I've just watched episode 3 and at every point asked myself "real or fake" and the 90% staged assement looks spot on to me. Although you could argue its 100% if you wanted to be super critical.

Superb TV, though, self and kids are loving this series.

Might it be that the knock is a regular photo opportunity for anyone who goes to number 10, and they’re told to gently knock.
