Not quite! Went West. This is on the SDW, probably 10mn befohour re getting to the River Arun. Where is starts going downhill. Went as far as the top on the other side, Bury Hill and then had a little play in the woods at Whyteways...President Merkin said:

Southease is a lovely spot. Inexplicable why it has a railway station but I'm glad it does. I'm sure you're sticking to the downs but there is an interesting route right by the village that takes you down a high speed lane to Telscombe village & then a long climb up the other side, popping out in Peacehaven, from where you can drop onto the undercliff towards Brighton. Sadly yep.My riding buddy wears a thin gilet type jacket for the not full on MAMIL look. Works for him and looks OK.
Think I'd feel a bit weird riding a road bike and not being in full lycra.
From the freshly launched Alpinestars Plasma range... the somewhat long named 'A-impact plasma elite shield' knee on left, elbow on right.

I figure that if they are good enough for Loic Bruni and Finn Iles to be wearing this year, I'm golden at significantly less speed/talent than them
Also got myself some Leatt 3DF 5.0 impact shorts with their D30 equivalent (CE level 1)...which was actually my last ever purchase from the chain reaction fire sale right before they went.
These are great as they don't have the nappy-esque chamois crotch lining - after all, padding for sitting/pedalling is not really a concern for DH, and they are under DH pants.
(I'll spare you the picture of me wearing them, because I can assure you that nobody wants to see that )

Bloody hell that's some protection! Assuming you're riding proper downhill tracks or parks?
In my 20 years of riding I've never got on with elbow pads, just can't wear them, react to them the same way a dog does when you put anything on their feet. Just feel wrong!
I'd love Dainese (or anyone TBH) to bring back a modernised Viking bib with D3o and no shin pads....

Recently got back into cycling, mainly to loose some weight but I'm loving it. I was suppose to just get a bike and ride it but as with vehicles I can't leave anything alone. Got some riser bars for a slightly more upright riding position in the week along with a new wheel today. I'm a big guy and I kept ending up with a buckled wheel after a few rides and after a few discussions with various shops a new rear wheel was ordered. I don't do 'proper' MTB riding tbh, mainly bridleways and cycle paths so it's not got to deal with hardcore trails, just my fat arse. Seems solid enough but time will tell.
No doubt started on the slippery slope with the modifying anyway, I'm sure ill be back with other bling soon enough.

That exactly what the shop said. Tbf as much as it’s good chunk of money for it, I didn’t have an issue upgrading a few bits for my needs as it were. t wheels these days, unless you're spending big money they're generally one of the components the manufacturer cheaps out on.... Pal of mine has a bottom of the range Trek Powerfly 4. In just over a thousand miles, it's had a new front wheel under warranty after the cheap as chips cup & cone bearings let mud in & ground themselves to paste. I replaced the freehub body after it seized & a few hundred miles later, it's done it again. It's also had a new headset & the Suntour forks are more or less seized. Bike brands are adept at sticking their cost cutting where you can't see it. You get waht you pay for but nevertheless I would expect more than a year out of a brand new bike before it starts to fall apart.
