Yep, lovely in green. I’ve never owned a Caterham and realistically, I probably never will. May prove to be one of life’s regrets smile

Yes and they do seem to hold their value well irrespective of age and mileage. I think they are a good buy once you have one though, because insurance is very reasonable on them, tax isn't daft either. Plus stuff like tyres/brakes/servicing etc are all very manageable price wise too I reckon.

I've only had mine since September(a 2002 model 1.8 K-Series with just under 5k miles on it), but I've thoroughly enjoyed every drive of it up to yet for sure though. driving

Yep -£15-20k is the sweet spot re.values IMO.

Like Lee I too have a 2002 K Series. Worth about £20k max and it's ace. All the fun I want on the road. Can be driven hard and it slides and drifts like a bd. smile

What more do I need?!

There's no chance of the Project V carrying an engine and it associated bits, the engineering and aerodynamic compromises to the EV version would be way too punitive.

In any case, I think the whole point of the car is to increase total sales whilst still complying with various CO2 and ZEV mandates. Once they exceed certain sales volume thresholds they have to comply like any other manufacturer.

To a point. I don't think the average 620R driver will be much quicker than if they were in a hot hatch in the wet.

Also a used £20k Seven will probably get blow away by plenty of other used £20k stuff.

Fun per pound is a different matter. But that's where the 620R probably loses out to the cheaper models.

€67,495 is almost reasonable, but there is usually another €10k of options to go on top of that, and, I suspect, 20%VAT on everything, making it very hard to see where the money is going.

But I guess they will sell every one they can make.

highest revving at 8500rpm!, R500 duratec has 263bhp at the same 8500rpm, R500 K-series produced 230bhp at 8600rpm,

Indeed, and if you’re using it on high days and holidays, rather than as a daily, it’s not going to depreciate and the running costs are tiny compared to anything else with the performance.

Bucket-list car, once I have the extra parking space.

As someone who has owned both, not sure I agree.
I always thought Westfields were the dogs danglies, but a k series 7 just blows them away in the handling department. The change of direction through a corner is on another level. It’s such an agile thing to drive, really alive to every input.

The Westie is more comfortable though, with its double wishbones at the rear.

Ah the age old westie vs caterham debate. Sure, Westfield’s are cheaper, and many have ballistic straight line performance, but they don’t handle as well on track. Compared to the majority of other cars, both are great. As track day toys, both are great. Lets be friends and move on.

Always had a soft spot for the SEight. Yeah I know it’s probably a pig to drive with a heavy v8 up front but who cares when it’s bonkers and noisy?

So why can’t they just keep making them? <1000 a year exemptions are available and not many want an EV toy.
