Respraying at home

Thirty - forty years ago I would respray a car at home using cellulose. Did a few, full and part resprays.
Can you still get it? What's the "go to" option these days that won't kill you instantly dead of some poisoning or other please?
What sort of cost am I looking at to do a typical car.
