Thanks . The reason I asked is that I know Lotusbits have built these engines . Did one for a Firenze rallycar recently .
I have one of their 2.5l 912 based engines in my Esprit - 237bhp on the dyno .
Bet that makes good torque wink

LWB? Long Wheelbase?

I didn't think there was such a thing on a Chevette. Never heard of it before. They used a Viva HC chassis didn't they?

Lovely looking thing, but I can't see it making that money.
I know, Holy thread resurrection Batman.

Yes, I believe the shell and suspension of the Tarmac spec cars was specifically designed to have a longer wheelbase.

15-16 years ago I saw a standard shell being modified to replace the VERY tired, VERY corroded and crashed, bodged HSR shell of one of the works cars for Bill Gwynne Motorsport.

I was shocked at the scope of the mods Blydenstein made to the shells to make them into competitive Tarmac cars back in the day. Bulkhead moved back to enable the engine to sit lower and further back, complete boot floor and rear suspension pick up points panels removed, modified and raised to enable longer wheelbase and increased suspension travel etc.
