This was my initial reaction too, but on 2nd thought they always get a big drop in subs as the northern hemisphere summer arrives. Would most of the people cancelling due to this price hike today be cancelling this month anyway because summer is coming (for most of their user base)? I would guess yes.
If they did this during winter they would have people rage cancelling in a very lucrative period for them. Doing it now lets the dust settle before winter. I think people will suck it up and come back once the dark, wet nights are back and they’ve had time to sample other platforms, and realised they will pay the extra for Zwift despite its many flaws.

That said, you can only pause for 8 weeks, so is it better to lose a load of people at £13 to retain the die hard for £18? Especially knowing that even the £13 passers will be back paying in 8 weeks..

Sorry if I’ve missed the point, but you can cancel your membership and keep your account. You can cancel and come back whenever you like. I didn’t sub at all in 2023 but restarted by sub again 2 months ago. Not really sure what the point of the pause feature is actually! That said, you can only pause for 8 weeks, so is it better to lose a load of people at £13 to retain the die hard for £18? I never bothered if it was less than a week but I think you could even pause it for a couple of days
And I can also confirm that if you stop paying subs you can reactivate whenever you like keeping all your achievements and level
The last time I had a break you also got 25km free per month which is you did the Alp was 2 free workouts
Cheers
I've cancelled. As a monthly sub, I didn't really make use of it last summer but let it run. This time I'll cancel and then pick up again in September for ZRL. Saves me 75 quid,.or about 50p/km. As above, I'll do ADZ as a bang for buck free allowance ride.
I don't have much of an issue with the price in the winter. Cheaper and more fun than a gym, but the justification that they kept the price low for years doesn't wash with me. If I'd been on Zwift six years, great, I'd have benefitted from the low period. But I haven't. So I've had 18 months, then a 33% hike. If anyone else did this, I'd walk too, including Netflix, Amazon or a mobile provider.
MyWhoosh is UAE owned and there are moral questions, but that's an individual consideration.

Seems like an own goal to me, I use it year round but and use in warmer months but not as much.
Given my limited riding in the warmer months, I'll be cancelling and subscribing again when the clocks change but will look at different services and how to get more bang for my buck, I can't justify the new price.

Unrelated to the cost (as I did this last week) but I didn't renew my Zwift membership as was getting a bit bored of it (I can totally see the long term appeal if you want to race or do training plans) and have bought a year of FulGaz for £80 (I can also give a year membership to a family member included in that price).
It's different to Zwift - less gamey but for me, as someone that just wants to sit and pedal at a mostly steady state to get some time in the saddle it works well. If I'm bored again in a year, back to Zwift or whatever else is out there

I think Zwift have played it well with introducing the increases this time in the year. Alot will cancel now and head on outside. By the time October comes they'll have forgotten about the big jump in price, things will have died down and people likely to subscribe again.
Percentage wise it is quite a big jump. I dunno why subscription services pretend to keep services as low as they can then chuck on 5 years worth of inflation and cost rises in one go. If costs increase, just chuck up the monthly cost by inflation/costs annually. That way it doesn't fell like a big hit all at once.

It’s another £5, who cares.
That's where I'm at. it's less than half a bottle of wine or a takeaway coffee a month, and gives me a lot more benefit than the wine.Plus, as a software engineer I'm ok with people wanting to get paid for their work. These platforms aren't free to run by any stretch of the imagination.
I do use it a fair bit though, as circumstances mean I can only ride outside at most once a week and that's often not possible. It's easy to jump on the turbo and get an hour in at lunchtime.

I cancel in the summer and renew in the winter.
A "spin class" is like 20 / 25 quid, so paying under that for a whole month of zwift isnt much.
the cost is a drop in the ocean compared to the hundreds / thousands i spend on other bike st every month.

Jeez, I pay around £5 for an hour!
Anyway, I'm out. I use Zwift in winter and haven't been on since mid-Feb so the hike just feels excessive for my use case. if I was using it weekly I wouldn't mind. But I may as well cancel and restart in winter '24.

Yes I fully understand people dropping the sub if they haven't the cash or just use once or twice a month, but for a large proportion of the cyclists on there, it's a rounding error.I appreciate there is competition and they are cheaper, but Zwift works for me. I was surprised at the price (pleasantly) when I joined last October.
The £18 doesn’t trouble me as an amount. It is in principle - it’s pretty buggy still, the data views are STILL atrocious, and there’s all manner of other issues with it. That’s why a vast increase isn’t welcome for me.
Shame as many of the founding team are great blokes, but I think it’s lost its way a bit since Covid - like many tech companies in that sense.
