Can I cheat? Worked a night last night and went for a run on my break at 0430, and took this

I'm usually a cyclist, promise!

Maiden voyage on the Pubbenback, been a while since I've tackled Hard Knott and it wasn't pleasant, especially in the heat. I was about 4 stone lighter last time, too....

Bit of an “off” at Swinley today. At least the phone screen didn’t get broken this time. Rather than being wet gravel with was nice and dry.

I’m sure I’ll live. hehe

Yesterday I rode at Cannock with my boys, my youngest's first go on the blue trail. Then met my mate for a quick lap of FTD.

This evening my eldest and I went for a local loop.

Did the Bolty Bash enduro with my son and a mate yesterday.

Bloody hell the climbs were brutal, but a great day. Only marred by my son have two offs on the last stage - one being a huge OTB about 40m from the finish.

He's only 15 so dead proud that he got back on and finished.

Its a shame as he was doing ok before that in the U18s and it's a tough category given how much growing you do between only just 15 and 17.

Pic is the liaison to S5.

Great long ride out on my new Creo SL E5

Yes there will be those who moan about e-bikes however with my damaged Miniscus I still managed 51 miles and enjoyed every single one. 99% of the time in eco and mostly above the threshold for assistance so the ‘E’ bit helped mainly on the hills which was appreciated.

They are a total game changer, light, fast and very comfortable.

Had a great few days in Scotland this weekend.

Arrived Friday lunchtime for a ride around Glentress. The new red into black decent is bloody great.

Saturday we headed over to the Golfie which was ace but bloody hard. That’s a big old climb to the top and the decents are hard.

After the Golfie, we did another lap around Glentress and I headed back up to the new red / black descent.

Yesterday we rode at Inners…that climb on the red was hard work on tired legs and I’m not entirely sure it was worth the descent. The proper DH runs looks much better but we were with a mixed group and after splitting up on Saturday wanted to stick together.

No sympathy for the Golfie climb on your eeb though - it is tough climb, but worth it! I need to get back up to Glentress with Owen, as he was ill on our last trip.

Most of it’s ok, it’s the bit from the reservoir right to the top that finished me off. I a think the climb at Inners is worse.

I really enjoy Glentress and the pods are in a great location literally at the bottom of the trails.

I was there a few weeks ago... It pissed down and they named the weather sat over us it was so bad. Trails closed and it sounded like the pod roof was about to get ripped off.

I must go back when it's dry.

We will likely stay in the pods. Last time it was a family trip, so more creature comforts were needed. Peebles was a good base though.

That sounds grim!

We had three days of sun (it was properly warm winching up the Golfie climb) but there was lots of evidence of storm damage all over the place.

Just me and my cheap commuter bike breaking up the cycle home, enjoying the sunshine. Really enjoying the bike and cycling in general. Fitness levels have improved drastically over the last few months. Commute is 11 miles each way.

Can't stop looking at gravel bikes now...

Couple of rides recently. Three chubby lads out on their bikes last Friday, decided to go do a random loop I'd found on Komoot. Actually ended up being a nice ride, mix of scenery, lots of climbs and drops, few animals wondering about too. 37mph on a MTB is a bit sketchy though biglaugh

Back of the van got covered in mud for the drive home too redface

Then this evening I went for quick local ride, met my brother on the canal then we randomly went up the nearest multi story car park. There's a distinct feel of being a child again with my brother when we both get on the bikes. No real aim or plan, just go and fk about for a bit really. Great fun though.

I also came down with flu on the 2nd day... Just one of those weekends you chalk up to getting rid of all your bad pedalling luck on one go smile

Beauty is, even raining hard, the trails are pretty weather proof there.

Generally the best rides, no plan means zero expectations so you're just making decisions as you go based on how you feel and what you actually want to do...

My Nuke and my mates Jeht today at Llandegla, glad to have got this in before the weather turns tomorrow although it was a slog for me after only 3, maybe 4 hours sleep last night...
