What annoys me about stuff like that is that cartridge bearings aren't even expensive. Yeah stuff can come fitted with cheap Chinese ones but at least if a hub is designed to take a cartridge bearing you've the option to upgrade it to a level that suits your pocket.
I run a few sets of Hunt wheels, the first set I bought came with cheap Chinese bearings in the free hub which shat themselves. Hunt admitted it was a mistake and so sent me a new free hub which had Enduro bearings. Before that arrived though I'd already replaced the bearings myself with some SKF and that wheel is still going strong today on the back of my eeb 3 years and zero maintenance later....

Yeah it's for DH bike parks, and I've even gone single speed now such is my (or more accurately, my knees) dlslike of climbing or riding anything other than park. In my 20 years of riding I've never got on with elbow pads, just can't wear them, react to them the same way a dog does when you put anything on their feet. Just feel wrong!

On the east coast the double black tech can be super rocky and can really bite hard, but there is also some really fast flow jumpy stuff that'll do some serious damage if it catches you out. Truth be told, I'm not a massive fan of wearing elbow pads either, but I like my elbows and arms functioning still...and even my previous hardshell ones saved my arms in direct hits more than once, and still left cuts & bruises underneath. I actually forgot to take all my pads (elbow, knee, shin, & chest protector) once last summer and absolutely hated riding without them...it just felt wrong and really exposed, and I rode very poorly as a consequence.
Bottom line, I'm not 17 anymore and don't bounce off things like I did back then, so the more protection the better.

I mean, the impact shorts are practically transparent.... Bought a pair of secondhand Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels yesterday from a guy who was upgrading his bike to a disc version so was selling off his spare wheels. They are barely used as he got more in to touring, so they look mint.
Bonus was that he couldn't be bothered to strip them, so i has also got a barely-used DuraAce 10 speed cassette included, which i should be able to sell and get back a decent chunk of the £75 i paid for the wheels.
Now I just need to swap in my 11 speed Ultegra cassette and get some tyres on them. I've had Conti 4000/5000GPs before but they are a bit our of my price range now, so looking for a cheaper alternative.
Bonus was that he couldn't be bothered to strip them, so i has also got a barely-used DuraAce 10 speed cassette included, which i should be able to sell and get back a decent chunk of the £75 i paid for the wheels.

Meanwhile l'm afraid my unhealthy stem fetish has resurfaced.
Makes no sense has they do little and a £20 stem is fine. So I bought a £99 one but "only" paid £42, even new.
It's beautifully CNC machined in places and uses recessed 25 Torx bolts to save my knees not that it matters with a 480mm reach on a L.
And it matches my bars. Very sad.

I have serious OCD issues when it comes to bikes. I need to have my dropper slammed and won't allow 1mm of post showing. Which is not always easy to achieve!

We could be related; I had to have matching Rnethal bars and stem and it pains me deeply that I can't slam my dropper due to a small frame size. Life is hard sometimes I have serious OCD issues when it comes to bikes. I need to have my dropper slammed and won't allow 1mm of post showing. Which is not always easy to achieve!

How are you finding the Type T setup? I'm on the fence about installing it on a gravel bike as I've heard mixed reviews about the crispness of the gear changes when not under load. It looks nice though which is my leading factor at this point Will have to wait until next week to ride it now as on the way to Imola for the F1.

I recently changed my mtb tyres from an Assegai/dhr2 (grippy but s l o w) to a pair of Bontrager Xr4s.
They're much faster, but the back tyre lasted all of 2 rides, with me slashing the sidewall at cut gate last weekend. So I've gone for the slightly beefed up SE4 to replace it.
Whilst I was at it, I ordered a Charger 2.1 damper and a debonair C3 airspring to go in the Rockshox Yari. I was getting a severe beating on the rough downhills and it's supposed to be a big improvement.

Hope so. The reviews are all very positive. I had a quick go on my brothers Pike equipped bike, which feels much nicer than the Yari currently does. On the Yari, I had to stop a couple of times part way down the descent at the weekend, just to let my hands and arms have a rest. Completely lost sight of my brother.horsemeatscandal said:

Yeah, all my bags are Restrap so I'm a fan. Last year I hated my flip flops when trying to wonder round off the bike (plus they looked crap hanging off the bike or shoved in the bag as they made it look huge) so hopefully these will be the answer...Gratuitous pic...
