To be specific, this is the one that keeps whispering to me in my sleep... The Meister Agenda

Easy.

The Tissot PRX automatic. I know I should love it as the styling is right up my street and it gets a lot of love on review sites, but I just can't get over how unimpressed I am with it in the flesh, it just looks and feels cheap. I must have tried one on half a dozen times in the last four months, but I can't convince myself.

Same here, except I was disappointed by the blue waffle dial, didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

I'm trying really hard not to buy a Colt Skyracer at the moment whistle
This no longer qualifies for this thread.

I dunno - whenever I see the Skyracer, nice as it is:

I think of one of these:

Well, yeah, cheap black, plastic and rubber quartz watches do tend to look similar.

Most of the Tudor range... I really want to like them - they look good in ads and get rave reviews but they feel chunky/clunky in real life.

I had a North Flag which was okay, once it was repaired as it had the sticking date issue. Moved it on after a couple of years. I think that also may've coloured my view of the brand.
Probably the watch I wear the most is the NF

But each to their own. If the rest of the world liked the same watches as I do, prices of watches I want to buy would be even higher. So Romeo I applaud your moment of weakness, I'm pleased for me! biggrin

As so often, Mike says it much more eloquently than me! Each to their own, enjoy the Breitling!!

Fair enough, they do look crap in photos (especially this beat up one).

In the, erm, Breitlight, the case has a kind of depth and texture to it and the crystal has a tinge of blue.

The PRX always seems to be one of those watches where quartz is the correct choice.

Nicer dial, half the price.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to intentionally widdle on a chaps roaring inferno, I'm chuffed that you're chuffed.
I don't like baked beans either, plenty of people do & I don't understand why. But hey, if it works for them... And lets face it, if they stopped buying the devils food, and started buying pickled chillies, the pickled chilli shelf would soon empty, the pickled chilli price would skyrocket and I would be sad.
I genuinely don't drink tea either.

I was in Dubai airport years ago, and saw a lovely Ulysses Nardin, one of their divers, right up my street. I thought it was £1800. Seemed like great value. So decided to have it.

Credit card would not go through, so try again, still no. Fortunately. It was at that point it dawned on me it was £18,000. Hence card being declined lol.

I agonised for months before going for a Tudor GMT instead. 3 years in I still adore my Tudor and couldn't be happier with it, but the Brietling is gorgeous and continues to be a near miss that will probably land a hit one day.

Now that is a bold design choice.

Black dial Octo Finissimo S for me. Tried it on so many times, never quite been top of my list.

I love it in isolation but have no idea when I’d wear it.

Mentioned this on another thread - it would be this:

This was before the prices for these went ballistic, but it was still stretching my budget and I was concerned that I wouldn't have the nerve to wear it enough so I bottled it...epic fail.

Not exactly a near miss as I didn't enter the store but I was in the Meadowhall Shopping centre today in Sheffield and had a look in the window of the Tudor Boutique and they have in stock the Bi metal GMT on a bracelet and a Nato strap, not as exhibition pieces but for sale. I have fancied one for a while and this is the first time I have seen them available to buy there and then in an AD.

Was very tempted but the current state of the economy worries me and I feel my cash is better saved currently, having now seen them in the metal though I may look at it again in 12 months they are very nice

I did buy a Christopher Ward Abyss watch, in their sale.
But it was so dark I could hardly see the time!
Returned it & got a refund, no quibble.

More near misses from today's bored browsing...

Firstly something from Pierre Cardin's early 70's Espace range:

This one is difficult to find in this good a condition. The Espace range is fun, but really they're rubbish horologically, despite the badged Jaeger movement.
This seller is asking $450 USD, about £400 + 20% import duty + shipping, it's about £500. Too much, that would buy something nicer by Omega or Longines. The seller is also in Buenos Aries. It's not that I'm holding the Fauklands thing against the Argentinians (although we are holding the Fauklands against them biglaugh), more that I avoid buying watches from anywhere with a hot and steamy climate.

Another one that caught my fancy is this BWC:

Its definitely whispering to me, but it's not hollering.

Was up town last week having a jolly with the wife. After a few drinks on the way round, we ended up in WoS in Knightsbridge to try on a JLC Master Geographic, which didn’t work when on the wrist.

Also tried this on & almost melted. It was amazing. Potato filter shot gives the level of adrenaline that was coursing through my veins.

Went across the road & had a stiffener & a long hard chat with myself (& Wife!). Dusted myself down, sailed past the shop & managed not to buy it. It was close, very close. I now know which watch I want for my next milestone birthday though.
