I'm not really bothered if people buy fakes if I'm completely honest, it's more my angle that people shouldn't try to justify buying a fake because the real thing is too expensive or it's a massive conspiracy or everyone else does it so it's alright etc etc. You buy a fake because it's cheap and looks like the real thing, obvs.
You care enough to sneer at those who buy them? You’re just annoyed because it annoys you that some can wear a ‘fake’ and be happy. The question is why it annoys you? I’d love to know what Rolex you actually own?I bought a fake shark's tooth in the Canaries when I was much younger, turned out to be a canine from a big dog lol.

Yes, you've already said that. Interesting you see my responses as 'sneering', or that it annoys me - it doesn't really, if anything the subterfuge and self-delusion is a little dispiriting.

Worse than that, you need a genuine Rolex to make you feel special and drive a mapped Golf, the irony is off the charts tbh.I bought a fake shark's tooth in the Canaries when I was much younger, turned out to be a canine from a big dog lol.

1. eh? Then why are you posting incessantly on the topic?2. it's more my angle that people shouldn't try to justify buying a fake because the real thing is too expensive or it's a massive conspiracy or everyone else does it so it's alright etc etc.

2. that's the best justification I can think of...
3. ...and you seem to agree.
What am I missing?
I even think there are replicas of replicas
A thread on the latest Rolex "Bruce Wayne" (might have my model wrong here) over on RWI has images of one with Clean Factory stickers, even though the only known rep (at that point in time) is ARF. Someone trading off CF's quality reputation.

I've lost count of the number of replica AC Cobras or GT40's I have seen, fully badged up per as the originals and with the owners trying to get every last tiny detail correct so that it fools everyone that has a look at it. I suppose you want all those sent to the crusher do you?
Yes absolutely, they're abhorrent. Should be banned etc etc.. Next you'll claim cheap fakes are an 'homage' I imagine.
The 'well lots of people do borderline legal things in life all the time' defence only works if you're under 10 years of age btw.

If you can’t afford the real thing, I really don’t get why you’d bother
Because you can, you know, personal choice and all that? A friend of mine has a C-Type (rep), and lovely it is too. Should he take it into the nearest field and set fire to it just because someone has a problem with his personal choice?carlo996 said:

I can’t afford a 250GTO and I’d rather own a Skoda than have a fake.
Is that a yes? It's pretty depressing if so. Mosdef said:
It’s a yes from me. I don’t understand why anyone would want a car that isn’t original, there are plenty of other fun options out there that aren’t fakes. Same goes for watches, albeit there are some posters who just want them as a bit of fun and not to project (fake) status. The last one is relatively harmless, as long as you’re prepared to overlook the human exploitation that goes with the territory.
Because a factory C is unavailable and the replicas are not only as good, but better than the originals. They make people smile, like if you fancy a replica watch, it's a thing. Are you really trying to make a human rights issue over replica watches, and who are you to judge, driving your 'Skoda' when someone has spent less and is having a much more enjoyable time? Do you think you need to revisit your judgmental take on life?Mosdef said:

Google is your friend on that subject but just for starters…

A C Type is somewhat different to a fake watch but wouldn’t appeal to me anyway.
