Having never seen the point, I now quite fancy the idea of a smart watch / activity tracker. This was based on being bored one night and seeing the Samsung Fit 3 for only £60. The three things I wanted it to do are;

1) Give an idea of how much activity I'm doing each day eg: not just how many steps I'm taking or when I'm out on the bike, but all the other stuff I do by just living

2) Give an idea of how many calories I burn each day (yes - I know it wont be 100% accurate) related to the above. For example cleaning the house / car burns more than just sitting on the sofa and would like it to give me an idea of this

3) Be able to track when I do an actual activity such as go for a hike.

It did everything really well, and was excellent for everything except the above three things. It only monitored steps taken, but would always sync back to the phones pedometer so was completely pointless. The calories were just the BMR plus any activities you actively set it to record (and it recons I burn 400Cal an hour sitting watching Netflix) and the activity tracker wont sync to the phone. So I sent it back.

I'm now looking at a Garmin watch as they seem decent and likely to do what I'm after. Does anyone have any experience with them and how they actually track your day to day activities? Do they link it to heart rate etc? From what I can gather reading online they do, but would be nice to have confirmation before splashing the cash for a second time.

Thanks in advance!

I've got a Fenix 6s pro and it does all the above. Benefit of the 6s is that is doesn't have a touchscreen.

Mine has been super stable, tracks everything exceptionally well.

I have a Venu Sq2 does all the items you require and a lot more than I need. I was quite surprised by its accuracy and battery last more than two weeks between charge’s.
