It's certainly not a sthole. It is full of awful tourists of a day aimlessly wandering around, but take them away and its as nice as it ever was, bar the total removal of all the local shops for tourist focused ones.
And what's all this rubbish about swede/turnip.
White turnip has no place in a pasty.
Swedish turnip or simply turnip as the Scots and most cornish call it is the only accepted choice.
For simplicity it should be called swede in recipes for the avoidance of doubt or if we want to be American rutabaga or whatever they call it.

Nobody mentioned white swede except you. And you've also explained what we all meant! And what's all this rubbish about swede/turnip.

I cannot believe in this day and age that people do not know the difference between swedes and turnips. Turnips are white, swedes are yellow. They have totally different taste.

I haven't mentioned white swede! Whatever that is, at all.People keep mentioning swede/turnip in the ingredients above. I'm merely pointing out its swede.
The / indicates (to me at least) that itss an either/or situation which it isn't.
We wouldn't want people making fake pasties now!
Although turnip in a pasty shaped pastry along with the proper pasty ingredients would be quite nice, along with carrot, but then it would be beef stew in a odd shaped pie. Not a cornksh pasty.

You do know I have stated that in my post...perhaps I haven't articulated it well. But seems clear enough to me!
