65” telly and sit 3.9m away, which is just about perfect for me.

The charts from the RTing's link above would have you believe you should have bought a 86" or larger telly biggrin

If you go on Amazon you can see what the tv looks like in your room. Pretty handy.

77inch tv, and my eyes are 2.8m away.

Could easily be closer but this works well in the room.

With 4k viewing distances aren't the issue they used to be.

65" OLED about 2.3m away. I have enough room for 75" which I will get next...but not for a good few years hopefully. Bigger is always better, as long at its flat against a wall. Big TVs in corners or bolted above the fireplace just look stupid.

Yeah tried that before - it sort of works but not going to rely on it smile

I'm guessing it seemed too big initially or did you find that to be comfortable viewing right from the off?

A sensible screen size is often restricted by the distance from which it can be viewed from, too near and the lack of resolution is obvious. HD and latterly 4k makes all the difference these days, however when we watch SD sources even quality upscaling has its limitations and, if you are sitting close, the end result is a very unsatisfactory picture.

The size of TV screens available at reasonable cost in the last few years has grown and there has been a desire by many to go really big, but our typical UK sized rooms haven't grown any and the number of times a really suitable space for that super sized screen is few.

For me the sweet spot of general TV viewing is a 43", when seated 3 - 4m from the screen. HD looks great, SD ok, and it doesn't dominate the room. However, the downside is it's not cinematic, and for that (at 4m viewing distance) you need a very large screen, say 80 - 90" and preferably a projector, a hidden screen and a 4k source.

55” QLED and about 3m; perfect for me. In my last place I had my projector set up giving a 120” picture at about 5-6m and I loved it but I did find myself having to actively look around to see everything. Was awesome for gaming though.

85” at 3m led screen. Was on a Black Friday deal last year at richer sounds. https://pro.sony/en_GB/products/pro-displays/fwd-8...

60" Sony LED at 5.5m... Clearly woefully inadequate. Nearly 9 years old, but still fine - But I wouldn't be gutted if it broke and provided an upgrading opportunity.

Loved it right from day one. I've got a 7.2 sound system, and it's arguably better than a cinema.

Back in the days when TV screens were much smaller, I used to wonder why it was OK to have your eyes 40cm away from a computer screen, but you had to sit across the room from a TV screen of about the same size.

32" at.... 3.5m! No wonder I've been recently thinking captions and sports scores are getting hard to read!

Well, I do sit 3.6m away from a 135" projected screen :-P (and the same distance to a 65" TV)

Our settee is at one end of the living room and 55” tv at the other, so probably 15 feet away.
A 65” would be a bit better but the current one is just fine.
