Who is jealous exactly? It's well documented if anybody has watched him from the early days that he's now achieving big viewing numbers, sponsorship from different brands who i imagine are all paying him a decent sum just for mentioning their name in his videos for a minute or two regardless of whether some of them are st or not, property investment he's got going on, It's there for everyone to see.

He's also right in saying that he's enjoying it all now as the bubble could burst and it all goes, and i guess 1 or 2 wrong videos could quite easily change that, the sad fact of reality is that there is people out there that WILL see someone showing off a fleet of sports/supercars etc along with a big house on lots of land and take negatively to it, I don't particularly agree with his "hard work beats talent" thing he talks of as there are thousands and thousands of people who bust their backsides off daily and will never achieve anything like what he has.
I've got a friend of a friend who is pretty big on Tik Tok - nearly 2m followers I think. He started off doing cooking videos and now gets all sorts of sponsorship deals and freebies. He's given up his job and now does Tik Tok full time and is venturing out into other avenues. His kids also have their own accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers and all of them are making a mint as far as I can tell - good luck to them is what I say and make hay while the sun shines!

But there are also plenty of people with natural talent who waste it because they don't work hard.

Both can be true at the same time (After all this is simply just a phrase Mat uses for marketing). But in my experience, the most successful people lean more into working hard than simply having some god given talent for something.

I've just spotted a post online that shows the TDC guys visiting Misha's Vulcan Alpha in the 996 with renders for a massive rear wing and a front splitter, that explains the lack of!

It's on their latest video(s). The rear spoiler was missing because the fixings were/are broken. The new wing is absurd, and Misha says it will produce about as much downforce as the standard Aero wing. Which is a bit underwhelming really.

On the other end of the spectrum, my channel got monetised this week, safe to say it won’t be paying for itself for a long time hehe

I think you would need regular viewpoints in the 50-100k+ region to even scratch a minimum wage.

Woah, you’re nearly on track for 2 Freddo’s! Keep it up! laugh

It’s a start though, so genuine congratulations. Just to get onto the scale is an achievement. This time next year Rodders.

He is not "nouveau riche".
ok. your point?
It means he's not gauche enough to flaunt his (very impressive) house on the internet in a bid to grift more money from people.

Yup it’s a great feeling, 11 months work to get to that point, but YouTube is anything but easy. I’ve now got to balance the channel and a new job so that’s already proving to be a challenge.

Dont forget to declare it smile

I get about £300 a month for around 80k views.

Realistically, noone is going to make a career out of it, unless you have some major USP these days.

Will do.

Agree on the USP, it’s critical to a channel (and why most, including mine) struggle in the early stages as you don’t necessarily know what that is.

I’ve learnt a ton over the year and it’s been fun, views have been decent for a new channel and I’ve been luckily enough to had help from AA and Jayemm which I will always be grateful for.

My original plan was to do a campervan channel but I pivoted after 6 months, as I realised that I couldn’t deliver what the market wanted on a regular basis (road trips). So I started the new one to focus on cars and it’s been much more successful.

Kinda makes you wonder then what people like Mat armstrong are pulling in with their views, I came across 1 video he did on the M5 comp he has/had and that had 16m views alone that's without all the other videos he has done and the sponsorships etc.

A decent chunk but Mats diversified outside of YT (rentals etc). But 1.5m views must be in the thousands right?

The automotive RPM isn’t as high as say finance but it’s better than gaming.

Yeah i believe he's got a chunk invested in property outside of the youtube thing, either way whatever he's doing he's clearly doing it right.

Just watched your latest video (the Nurburgring one - first time viewer of anything on your channel) and wow you certainly put some effort into the editing and recording..........I generally like the format and can tell they must take you a long time to put together (I will watch stuff when I appreciate the effort people put in).

However, some honest feedback.......it's way too long. I personally look at the video length first and if I see more than 20 minutes (yours is 48:59) I just skip through it. I get that it's a one off (most of yours are much shorter) but I love the chapter points you've done, really makes a difference to my viewing, but all in all I enjoyed it and another subscriber!

Keep up the hard work.....like someone posted earlier.....this time next year Rodney.....

MA had over 24 million views in the last 30 days. I know it's not this simple, but if you pro-rate those figures then it's about £90k per month.

Thanks for the feedback and for subscribing! I knew a longer video was always going to be risky. Likely the smart play would have been a single 15 minute video but I wanted to document both experiences to have something to look back. As you said I try to keep most normal videos in the 8-16 minute range as there no point doing longer than that.

Road trips are also poor performers generally, at least at this stage in the channels life as the audience is not as attached. That will (hopefully) change in time.

I’m picking up a new project car this weekend that should be a lot of fun.
