Breaking news.
Steve Bannon’s appeal for his contempt conviction was unanimously rejected and he will be ordered to prison soon. By staying his prison sentence, he will now be incarcerated during the election.

Go to jail, head directly to jail for 4 months...

Would the oil companies take him up on the offer?

I've worked in O&G before, they spend millions, if not billions on trying to big up their environmental credentials in the public eye... Surely openly taking Trump up on his deal (or even secretly, knowing how well Trump keeps a secret) would undermine that carefully crafted marketing?

Also, we all know how good Trump is at keeping his word.

Reports trumps offered Weisselberg another $750,000 if he doesn't testify in the latest trump fraud trial.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-trial-prosecut...

It's going so badly he's willing to commit obstruction and witness intimidation.

It's not "another $750,000", it's the last three installments of the $2m 'severance' package from last year.

I am sure that they considered it and ran the numbers. But equally, the blow back on taking Trump up on this would be ridiculous. This would be the best possible way to energize the younger population into kicking out the GOP and Trump. But of course Trump would win, he gets the cash and walks away. The oil companies would suffer for years and while it might be good in the short term, they arent that stupid and would certainly weigh up the risk.

Now, would they try and do something that is hidden and conceal what they are doing? Yeah, but again, they would have to make sure that they are not found out.

Shareholders and very transparent accounts would scupper any idea they could do it covertly.

They already are contributing to various lobby groups:

The interesting thing for me is the numbers.. here we are talking single digit millions at the most. It is a huge leap to suddenly have them contribute combined up to $1bn. Hence I can't see it happening.

Oh crap. I thought that Barron would escape and turn into a relatively normal human being, but it seems that he may actually be Anakin Skywalker...
You might be ok

As does any industry, Big tech, big pharma.. shove a big in front of it and they contribute to both the dems and the reps on a regular basis.

What Trump is asking for is $1bn to be given direct to him by the large oil companies.

If you're asking what the difference is, the first paragraph is distributed amongst many different constituencies. The latter goes direct into a single account.

If it could easily be concealed?

I doubt it can. Not in western countries. What Trump is asking for is "support me and support me forever". As you said, there's a lot of smart people running numbers in the O&G industry. They know all alliances are temporary. With Trump, alliances are very, very temporary.

Thanks.
$250k every three months for 2 years that trials are running. No wonder Wesselberg was ok trying to be the fall guy in the last fraud trial, committed perjury for trump.

There's a few reports that Melania wasn't happy, that possibly it was Lara trump that announced this without telling her, or Barron until after it was announced and it was Melania who announced Barron would not be going to endorse trump.

Rick Scott went to support trump Thursday

Well he was at the Dec 2020 election fraud planning meetings, was involved in trumps insurrection attempt, refused to answer subpoena's from the Jan 6 Committee, who voted against certifying the Pennsylvania electoral college votes, because they wanted to present the fake electors votes, even as the magamob stormed the capitol, was one in two lists of suggested pardons for trump, those 7 who voted against certifying the electoral colleges votes and those that were at the Dec 2020 WH planning meeting.

He's been on media shows, walked out to reporters to say the judge and prosecutors were all corrupt and then attacked the judge's daughter and complain about the gag order, but wouldn't answer reporters asking questions about trumps guilt.

Quite a few commentators like Katie Phang saying that trumps lawyers made a mistake trying to slut shame Daniels to discredit her as a witness, and try the defence that trump paid her off because he didn't want to be associated with a porn star.
Remember Blanche denied for trump that the sex ever took place

Neither was Daniels blaming trump, she was blaming herself (27 at the time) for getting herself into that situation. “My own insecurities, in that moment, kept me from saying 'No.'”

That Susan Necheles went overboard and got aggressive with her because trump had ordered his lawyers to act that way
