No, the question is about countries, not decades!

A British friend that lives in the US texted me at the weekend saying he had just visited his 49th country. Made me curious as to how many countries I had been in (35).

How about people on here? Anyone managed to get into three figures?

I'm on 19 off the top of my head. I think that's a lot more than most folks I know, it feels like quite a lot but in the grand scheme of things it's not much at all! As others post can you consider putting the list... I'm quite intrigued, Especially around the "dodgy" ones.

I guess in my mind the uk is one on its own and lanzarote is part of Spainhehe I shall have to look up that UN list

Edit...
Downloaded the been app from the image above and its 29 which surprised me.

I used to do a new country every year but I stopped that in 2019, I found I was lining up doing things to achieve that goal rather than what I actually wanted to do. Eg I went to see the motogp at mugello rather than not picking Italy.

Canada
Usa
Mexico
Uk
Jersey
Ireland
Morocco
France
Spain
Portugal
Belgium
Netherlands
Sweden
Switzerland
Austria
Germany
Poland
Czech
Greece
Italy
Hungary
Malaysia
Thailand
Japan
Australia
NZ
That ain't 29... the app must split the uk

indirect flight stops surely don't count unless you go landside right! I had a pint in Copenhagen but I can't count it... weird.

Amateur with 25 countries…but off to India later in the summer, and bike trip to Czech in a few weeks so that will add another two.

No points for multiple trips though. I guess I must have done the US maybe 80+ times over the years.

I had an international job so visited a few but this guy, Heinz Stuecke, is a friend of mine and in the Guinness Book of Records
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_St%c3%bccke and has visited quite a few more. I think nearly 200 at the last count!

39 - work will take me to a few more and having never visited Australia or New Zealand, they would be more of a priority than some others (not been fussed about mainland South America thus far. However, I'd love to drive from the bottom of Chile northwards and see how many countries I might visit. Perhaps, even Aregentina).

20 ish. I'll be adding several new ones over the next year or so.

Pure box ticking doesn't look like a whole lot of fun to me.

I quite often need a holiday after going on holiday as it can be so much of a grind if you don't have leisurely timing.

Not including home nations as that's cheating:

France
Belgium
Netherlands
Luxembourg
Switzerland
Austria
Germany
Italy
Spain
Andorra
Portugal
Poland
Czechia
Denmark
USA
Canada
Cuba
Thailand
China
Turkey
Greece

21. Not so many.

You can't have Wales, it's a principality not a country. And the country you were born in doesn't count as a visit.

The Welsh certainly believe they are a country

The other home nations definitely count too. Just because they are part of the U.K. doesn’t mean they are not countries in their own right. I suspect only a minority of English people will have been to Wales and Scotland
