13 for me. All W Europe, aside from the USA, Canada & Australia. Only slightly unusual one's Finland.

There are three that I've driven through or changed planes at, but didn't count them.

Pretty poor total & won't be adding any new countries to the list this year.

indirect flight stops surely don't count unless you go landside right! I had a pint in Copenhagen but I can't count it... weird.
I would tend to count a country if you had to change planes and spent time in the airport (rather than stopped on the runway to refuel). So I included Dubai where I spent a few hours, had a coffee etc, but not somewhere I stopped in the Middle East (can’t even remember where) for refuelling and picking up passengers on the way to India.

You could of course argue that if you cross into a country’s airspace then you have been there but that would be a bit bizarre and also hard to track

46 for me. Largely thanks to a combination of work travel and Interrail as a teenager.

Rookie numbers.

27 countries visited which excludes airport lay overs. I spend a lot of time on mainland Europe, but I've never been to Africa, South America or Australia & Oceana.

Edited to add, I have been to a lot of different locations within a lot of these countries. I've been to 5 or 6 parts of Poland, The Netherlands, Spain, Germany, etc.

mid 50s - some places I went to under the age of about 10 I can't be sure of.

I recently moved into the upstream/exploration side of oil & gas, so been to the majority of the gulf states in the last 18 months, with some delightful places in Africa a possibility in the next 18 months...smile

Would love to travel more. As a kid, we went to the US many times, and as it’s so vast, each visit felt like a different country. And then for last 25 yrs we haven’t been able to fly due my wife’s health condition so that means it ruled out any travel beyond France really. So 13 countries from me. I won’t say poor, as I’ve got to know the countries I have been to really well.

Good news is that she is now a lot better, and think she’ll be able to fly very soon, so Japan, Peru, Iceland, and Scandinavia are all on the priority list.

The Welsh certainly believe they are a country

The other home nations definitely count too. Just because they are part of the U.K. doesn’t mean they are not countries in their own right. I suspect only a minority of English people will have been to Wales and Scotland
People believe in all sorts of things

Doesn't make them true.

country

1. COUNTABLE NOUN A1
A country is one of the political units which the world is divided into, covering a particular area of land.

Uk is one political unit with some devolved powers to certain areas, which does not (yet) make Scotland a country.

39 at age 54. I think so anyway, just did a quick count on a wall map. Don't think I've missed any. I'm not including Wales/Scotland/N.Ireland/England/Channel Islands/Gibraltar - and I'm not counting the UK at all as it's where I was born and live.

Bit annoyed I've got to dig another one out to make 40 now.

Not a lot, around 30; but multiple locations in a very large geographical area.

Sumatra
Java
Bali

Counted as one, Indonesia

Hong Kong
Macau
Taiwan
Inner mongolia

Open to interpretation, all prior to 97 and since, (counted as one).

Hoping to add, Laos and Cambodia this year.

All done on my own wallet, sadly I’m not bright enough for someone else to pay.
