FYI: Aktiia have £20 off today, as apparently it's World Hypertension Day. (Who knew?!)

That's good to hear. 124/86 is a BP I can only dream about!

Mine is always nearer 155/105 even with medication. My doctor has just added Amlopidine (5mg) which I'm hoping will have a more dramatic effect.

I'm down about a stone in weight, but need to lose another couple before I'll be happy.

Hope you get it sorted soon mines a bit higher in the mornings but been around the same or a bit less at night. Seems to be on a downward curve ... I'm wondering if the virus I had a couple of weeks ago had bumped it up ?

I still had the mother of sore throats when the nurse at the walk-in took the first reading.

The Amlopidine certainly seems to be helping. Been on it 2 days and my pressure is 140/95. The doctor wants me to be on it a week before formally reporting back. At my initial consultation he did say I will probably be on 10mg to sort it out properly.

I'll be happy just to see it in the 130/90 area

Edited to add..

Thursday 19th and I'm getting readings of 134/91.

Great news ! I'm teetering on the edge of the green box now on the NHS website checker. Last night was 124/80.

Great news, Folks!

I found Amlodipine was not great for me with side-effects, but halving from 10 mg to 5 mg made it manageable.

I’m only on the lowest dose of Ramipril 2.5mg hopefully that will do the job. Not had any side effects either … yet !

125/88 for me today so the Amlopidine is really having a big affect on my BP.

Do you mean mentally or physically? Obviously very happy to see relatively normal figures.

High BP doesn't have any physical symptoms so I shouldn't feel the drop. I do feel slightly different though, but it could just be psychosomatic.

I was thinking of medicine side-effects. I get fatigue, headache (permanent) and water retention. Higher dose gave me weird-as-you-like dreams and the headaches were crippling!

That makes more sense!

No side affects so far. I do seem luckily in that way. I didn't react to Covid vaccines, and no medication I'll taken has given me any troubles.

I can recommend the Aktiia product.

https://aktiia.com/

Started using it end of last year and has given me reliable 24 hour data with no issues. Calibrated against Aktiia-own cuff and Omron cuff at least once per month, so I have confidence in the data.
Bought one of these on your recommendation, only day 2 but I'm very pleased with it.
I'm on Ramipril and Amlodipine and am on an average of 123/80 which is well within range but I want to tweak my exercise and diet to stay low or go a bit lower as I age. Knowing what increases BP and what lowers is helps me do more of the latter and less of the former.
It's more an exercise for myself than anything else at the moment but also because I'm 52 with an 11 year old daughter and want to stick around as long as possible for her, so I'm taking a serious look at health overall - stuff like this really helps.

So thanks!

Glad it is working for you! I can be a bit frustrating at calibration time, but it's worth against the pay-off of 24/7 monitoring without even thinking about it smile Mine took a few weeks to settle to a measurement band, and I sometimes see a small step-change just after a fresh calibration, but nothing major.

So far mine seems (after recalibrating after I spotted that you shouldn't have the wristband and the cuff on the same arm) to be pretty accurate when compared to my Omiron but for me it's about spotting trends; is my overall BP rising/falling, what if I eat/drink less, do this or that kind of exercise etc. which I think it's going to be ideal for.

Yep, exactly. Mine gave my GP a level of confidence as he could check my overnight readings were lowering as they should. I'd previously had a perambulatory loaner from the hospital for 24 hours, and I can guarantee that I did not get a standard night's sleep with that thing inflating as frequently as it did!
