After many years of caravanning, we swapped to the dark side last Autumn. I am pleased with it. We have managed to get a few weekends away in it so far. We are choosing small sites, reasonably local to home, within walking distance of a dog-friendly pub. Bliss. It is double-floored with inboard tanks and Alde heating, so it has also been nice and warm.

After years of owning VW T4 and T5.1 campervans we bought a T4 coachbuilt and eventually got this, a 2007 VW T5 Karmann Colorado 550. It’s a pretty rare thing in general and more so in RHD.
I’ve done a few mods to the interior in the last couple of years doing a full upholstery change to 911 50th anniversary colours.

The upholstery looks great, is that 5.5 metres long?I’ve done a few mods to the interior in the last couple of years doing a full upholstery change to 911 50th anniversary colours.
Bought a new bivvy bag (my first) and tarp to have a go at kayak camping.
It's a Terra Nova Jupiter Lite, and found one from Fresh Air Junkie at a very good price. The tarp is a British army spec basha and the groundsheet is a German army "Elephant Skin" one.
.. of course a bit of scope creep inevitably happened - I needed a new sleeping mat, and on testing it out, realised my old sleeping bag was no longer up to the job of keeping me warm, so ended up with a Thermarest Xtherm NXT Large mat from EMS and a Rab Neutrino Pro 700 down sleeping bag from Trekitt.
Last weekend, I went along with 4 friends from our canoe club on a 2 day paddle, 1 night camp on a deserted island in the middle of a river, and I stayed toasty warm and dry, despite the weather being cold and it raining heavily overnight, so I'm impressed with it all so far.
Although not exactly cheap, all this kit packs down very small, so I was able to fit everything needed inside my kayak, as opposed to strapping a large drybag to the rear deck.
We already have a 2 day paddle, 2 night camp planned for May, and a 4 day paddle, 3 night camp planned for July, and no doubt several others will follow!

One of our collection of Hillebergs in the morning after an enormous mountain thunder storm at 2600m. This one is a Nallo 3 which is about 2.6kg, though we add a few hundred grams by having the footprint as well. As such it's lighter than many 1 person tents - especially for an all-season tent - but as a 3 man it's much more comfortable. The joy of these Hillebergs is that they take 3-4 minutes to put up and can handle nasty weather, including very high winds. (It's easy for 1 person to get this up quickly in high winds). Perfect for high-altitude multi-day hikes, cycle touring etc.

Wanted to convert the T5 van to a camper, but so it can still be used as a van and also carry the kids.
Came up with this solution, rear seats can also come out.
Wooden bed at the back also folds into a bench seat if needed.
Got full 240v electrics all the time from a 230ah Li battery. Plus diesel heater.
Rails to hold bikes etc.
Just picked it up today from workshop and very happy!

Having had a boxer conversion the past six years we "upgraded" to this. An Adria Compact which it certainly is. Great for Scotland and it's single track back roads being the narrow body. It's only got the weedy 2.2 and five speed but at least it's quite eco on diesel. Over garage bed layout.
I sold them new back in the day , they had 3 options packs then spin of options available if you had certain packs, so over complicated! Yours is the basic pack 1 so steelies , 2.2 and black bumpers which is proper rare! That 2.2 was an underated option , way more econojicam than the flat 2.3 with the 6 speed box weirdly and upto 60mph as peppy cos of the low gearing, it'll map up to 150bhp and its chain driven as its the Peugeot/Ford engine unlike the belt driven iveco 2.3 In the fiat's, really good vans tbf
