Thanks for the thread PiaP, is it too much to hope for a bit of uncertainty this weekend or a battle for the lead of the race would be nice, good to be back at an actual race track smile

If McLaren really have figured out the red bull trick of keeping the tyres in the best operating window we really could have a battle on our hands.

I still expect max in the red bull to be quickest but if the McLaren works for Lando and Oscar their confidence will only grow.

First race since the season started I’m genuinely excited for.

Thanks as always PIAP! biggrin

I think we will see a Max win, but Perez pushed to 5th or worse with the Ferraris & McLarens splitting the rest of the top 5.

I hope so PiaP, but I can't help but think the window was just right in Miami. RBR seem to get 99% of the setups spot on, which is amazing in itself, but is a bit of a deflating spectacle otherwise.

Let's hope I have no fking clue!! biggrin
When you've got a second a lap advantage then it's easy to get the car setup in the ball park? Whilst not spot on the car copes with a wide range of conditions, unlike the Merc which seems to only work in a narrow window?

My go to for seeing what time the races are, the TV coverage etc biggrin

RB return to dominance I fear, then question on Mclaren/Ferrari as next best team?

M1K3. One suggestion. Assuming you want to do the track tour, if you are there on the Friday crack on and do the first one if you can. We usually do one Paddock Club a year (last year Abu Dhabi, this year Budapest) and later in the weekend the track tours can get very busy and/or cancelled if, for example, the schedule is thrown by a red flag in a previous race.

Thanks for the advice, was also thinking the same to do it on the Friday ahead of it getting mad over the weekend with more people.

If Bottas is in the garage during the tour, feel like he is going to think I am stalking him, rode with him and his mrs in Finland last year, and again in Girona last September...

You have to hand it to Italy for loving motosport more than most. This Imola track is pretty much in town. Monza, a Pleasant walk from Milan.
Meanwhile the UK has tracks tucked away miles from anywhere worth being.
Mind you Formula E has a race around some east london exhibition centre which somehow manages to be hoplessly uninteresting.
A reminder of how crap an F1 street race in london would be.
So sad.
The royal incubent should bulldoze one of the royal parks and make a venue for F1.

You're probably right Phil, but the McLaren was right up there on race pace with RBR in Miami. I also have the sense that Ferrari are finally on a good development path- the upgrades look good.

Mercedes- on the other hand- look to be a disaster.
For once, I fully agree with Horner that Toto should concentrate on performance in his paddock rather stirring along the pitlane.
But if his cars are terrible and unfixable, he might as well do his bit to aggravate Horner smile

But yes, the Merc is definitely a st show right now. I don't see their fortunes changing at least until 2026, and only then if they happen upon a dominant PU.

Norris for the win.
I feel that RB are on a downhill slide following the departure of A.N.
At least I live in hope.

What we could have of course is the mclarens both ahead of perez making for a more interesting tactical race.

He actually has left, effectively.

He's no longer allowed to see car data, work on new parts for the car or have any involvement in race engineering or setup. As confirmed by Horner - who does generally lie but I can't quite see why he would lie in this instance.

Newey, is gone - other than the RB17 hypercar, which is a commercial project outside of F1 as a sport.

However, the people in place at RBR are more than capable of maintaining the advantage the car currently enjoys for the rest of this season and most likely next season - assuming they don't mess around too much with what works in Newey's absence.

What would the timeline be for designing the 2025 car?

Unfortunately in the UK the power of NIMBY is pretty strong and the tracks really suffer as a result. However after a few years racing I still feel that we’re pretty blessed with our variety of circuits, when you consider how many tracks we have for such a small amount of space we’re doing well. Some are small and facilities lacking, but for saloon or touring car racing they all offer something. Maybe not F1 worthy but Silverstone, which is a wonderful F1 venue, is pretty much the most boring track in the country in anything else. I raced the GP layout last year in a car with 406hp and felt like I’d need double the amount for the track to actually come alive! As long as we have one premier venue for the F1 I personally think we’re actually better off with a variety of small and quirky tracks such as Cadwell, Combe, Oulton etc.
