Designing the car that gave Lewis his 8th title and Ferrari their first in almost 20 years would be a great finish to a long career.
Too late for that isn't it?Certainly for 2025.
Could ace 2026 new rules though
Why too late? Unless the 2026 car is already done, is that what you mean?
I wouldn't dump Horner for Newey in a normal scenario. The issue now is the sponsors have got no star designer they thought they'd have when they signed up, as he's left due to Touchy Feely's behaviour, and they're left with Touchy Feely on the day #Metoo is trending in the US because that other beast Weinstein has won an appeal.

The BBC article links Newey's decision directly to the Horner situation.
Maybe, that will convince the Thai major shareholder to dump Horner?
Who is more important to the team? Newey or Horner? Both have been instrumental to RB's success.
I'm not sure success is #1 on their list tbh, more like $$$$ the prospect of a buy out by the Horner led consortium is likely more appealing. Probably why he's Thai's favourite team member.Maybe, that will convince the Thai major shareholder to dump Horner?

Newey is closer to the end of his career than the start. Horner is about 15 years younger IINM and, if he's done his job properly, will have people in place meaning the wheels won't fall off if Newey leaves. I think they're more concerned about someone else getting him, than RBR losing him - if you get my drift.
If the Thai shareholder dumps Horner, Team Austria win and what next? Team Thailand still have the majority shareholding and no TP. Jos isn't getting the job, so it's a hunt for someone new.
I get the feeling that Thailand have backed their man and they can't reverse that now.

2026, yes - he can ace that.
Not sure he'll have the will to up sticks to Italy in his mid-60's though.....

BBC article seems pretty irresponsible, headline is "Newey to leave Red Bull over Horner allegations". That is pretty unambiguous, no? He's leaving because of the allegations...Maybe, that will convince the Thai major shareholder to dump Horner?
Who is more important to the team? Newey or Horner? Both have been instrumental to RB's success.
..except the story goes on to say that he's leaving "in the wake of the controversy", which is a different framing entirely. Further on it regresses further and points out that neither RB nor Newey have responded to requests for comments.
So as far as I can make out Newey has left for reasons unknown as yet, so the BBC just decided it might as well say it was directly because of the Horner allegations?

Benson has previously complained about the headlines on the articles he has written. ..except the story goes on to say that he's leaving "in the wake of the controversy", which is a different framing entirely. A man of integrity who doesn't need to put up with a toxic workplace, has voted with his feet. Reportedly no stomach for Horner's comings and goings.
Make your own minds up....no doubt Horner's apologists will say this exit has nothing to do with short hand skills or "noshing" by a certain money grabbing female member of staff (all allegedly).

If Newey HAS left for these reasons, why now? What’s changed?
Newey hasn’t even commented on why he’s leaving, yet. Still, it’s “in the wake of the Horner allegations” so that’s obviously the reason why, just like when they ran out of toilet roll in the gents toilets at RB HQ that too happened “in the wake of the allegations”.
Also just lol that anyone who wants to actually hear the reasons he’s leaving rather than idle speculation are automatically “Horner apologists”. How’s life in binary land?
The PA worked as PA to CH and AN, he would have known her very well and dealt with her regularly. He may be of the view that the PA was a decent woman and has been wronged.
In the messages published, CH is shown as complaining about having breakfast again with AN, as though he was a pain in the arse to have to sit with whilst eating. If those messages are real, that would probably get AN back up too.
I'd not be surprised if he is off, as reported, if the above is correct.

Does he take a gig at another team? That's going to depend on proving his ideas for the new car would be both competitive and compliant and also proving he wasn't complicit in the behaviour within RB.
But in the balance of probability, this is the window to bail at the top, especially if there is more to come out as to the goings on, or if one's ideas for the next car aren't looming slam dunk and it is certainly a prime time to negotiate one's golden handshake if not compromised.
That said, he's not yet bagged an Italian wife so getting Ferrari to fund that search would seem logical.

If there hss been no improper "behaviour within RB" following a barrister internal review, why might Newey ever need to demonstrate "he wasn't complicit", and if so with what? Are you speculating without any proof that there has been behaviour for which AN might be "compromised"?
Do you accept that smoke emanating from RB offices all season, and key employee now reportedly packing his personal effects at the office into a box hints at possibility of fire?
I have no definitive views or answers, just asking a few leading questions.
