hi,
im starting to look at macans to replace an e class estate we dont really need the space there are only 2 of us.

budget wise i didnt want to spend any more than 25k and that gives us a fair few options of both diesel and petrol S models

heat say petrol head says diesel even though we dont do huge mileage these days say 10k a year

but after been stung with a not overly cheap adblue system failure on the merc i really dont want those issues on top of the transfer case issue

question 1
how common are adblue/dpf issues on the macan

question 2
the 7 year warranty on the transfer box, is that from build only or does it get a new 7 year one after every time its replaced?

question 3
what economy are you getting in your 3.0 petrol or diesels going from 47 ish in the merc to 22 in a petrol may be a bit much smile

smallest journey is 12 miles that it will typically do and thats 4 times a week usually and we dont live in a city

quick calc
10k 47mpg diesel current
£1497

37mpg diesel
£1901

27mpg petrol
£2606

22mpg petrol
£3199

spec im after is
18 way seats
PCM
air suspension
not red leather or not extended or full leather if red
bose as a minimum

would like cooled seats but that seems very rare
not bothered about chrono pack im not going to be needing launch control

anything else i should be looking out for?

and any advice would be great

I’ve not owned either of the models you’re interested in…we have a Turbo Perf Pack but have driven both a few times when they were new cars. Personally I think the S Diesel is the pick of the range.

I’d add the Pano Roof to your list of must have’s, I think most have it anyway. Also if you can stretch to one I think Car Play was available from around 2017…I’d want both of them for resale even if I didn’t want them myself.

It is a Porsche so anything that goes wrong will be expensive….I think the warranty is good value. If you’re doing 10k miles a year it’s a two year service cycle which has to be at OPC. Can have a warranty until 15 years old/125k miles.

Not heard anything on DPF but like any car they don’t like lots of short journeys.

Went to see a really nice spec diesel today
It was not good at all front tyres very close to needing replaced, badly touched up big scratches on door very noisy pano roof and the tailgate sounded like it was eating rocks frown

It really wasn't 25k's worth at all but as always looked good in photos

Oh and a 3 hour round trip

Might be worth sticking a Wanted post on Macanforums. Most owners there won’t have abused or neglected their cars.

My 3.0 petrol returns 28mph on a really steady clear run. 18mph on local trips.

Excellent family car though.

Macan S 2019
27mpg around town.
31 on a run.

14-ways comfier than 18-ways.
Standard PASM less "bobbly" than air.

Big difference between you 2 with the petrol ones around town!

I'm quite happy with air being bobby I'd be wanting to run it on 18's too most of the time

We have a 2024 Macan GTS which is petrol engined. So far mostly shorter runs and this has resulted in around 24 mpg. We have the 18 way seats and they are very supportive and obviously set automatically to suit each driver (2 of us). Seats are a bit of a pain for a daily driver but having owned GT3, GT2 and GT3 RS's we're used to this type of seat, Try before you buy. We specced ours and one thing that we really wanted was to have the pan roof. On hot sunny days we can open it up and the heat is gone. Then the air con kicks in and all is good! Heated seats, heated steering wheel and heated front screen. Bose stereo (good enough in our tin box). If we want high end music we'll do that at home rather than when bombing around the country! Interior is all leather rather than Race Tex (Alcantara) as it's a bus rather than a track car. Personal taste for lots of things such as external colour and colour combo for interior.

looks great in the red!

i wish it was easier to find cars with options as autotrader doesnt always find them depending where they list them or even if they do list them and what did they actually call it as searching for suspension brings up all sorts but mainly pasm
