Have to agree, the manual is fantastic on the F430. I believe they will be worth a lot more in the coming years too. I've had more requests to find manuals than the F1 on the 430 so the demand is huge. Be patient and the right vehicle will come.

Manual F430 FOREVER !!! thumbup

Such an ASTONISHING car to drive and so rare, there shouldn't me more than 1000 manual F430 world-wide.
In France, only 1% of F430 were manual. In the UK the rate was at 13%. And from a reliable source at Maranello, the world-wide rate was 5%.
Supposing there were at the maximum 18,000 F430 built (I've also read 15 or 16,000 - who knows the exact figure ?), that would leave us with less than 1000 units. smile

The F1 gearbox is very good, but to my eyes, the pleasure of selecting gears with this beautiful and mythic manual gearbox is just incomarable ! cool

The F430 should be the last manual mid-engine Ferrari.
Prices are already rising in the rest of Europe. Manual F430 are almost twice expensive than F1's in France, Germany and Italy... !!! The current prices are around 150 000 € while for the same mileage car you get a 80 000 € F1.
In the US, some low mileage ones are approaching $200,000 and they really sell quickly... in fact, those are very very hard to find and you must pull the trigger quickly.

It must be driven to be appreciated. Such a beast ! Very raw feeling and an unique experience. Which other 500 bhp mid-engine sport car can you get with a manual gearbox ? Not so many...

It's a different kind of fun, but is a beautiful gearbox to use. It's a fantastic action - like a rife bolt - and you can't beat that shove in the back and hearing the revs rise after changing gear yourself. I miss that with an automated manual/DSG.

I cannot believe that they have gone up that much - 150k euros for a manual seems a bit excessive tbh.
unless its delivery mileage in a perfect spec.

They went crazy since the RM Auctions sale in March, where a manual 599 GTB sold for a staggering 650k € !!!
There are currently only 6 manual F430 for sale in whole Europe, and the average advertised price is 137 000 €, for an average mileage of 40 000 km (25k miles).
In the UK, there is not yet such a gap, but I bet this will happen very soon...

I would thought you would have bought one through the trade - as I cannot see you wanting to pay private prices....lol

and as for a manual, well I have a low mileage one in Silverstone , and this is my 2nd manual 430.

people all go one about how wonderful the F1 system and how quickly it changes gear , and what a wonderful drive. Well yes it is round the track and if you were bought up with PS3 you would love it.

BUT , this type of technology was rendered obsolete very quickly by the DSG gearbox , and tbh who wants a launch control they cannot use. The 458 gearbox is in a different league.

The choice is always a personal one, but with so few made they might well be worth a bit more over time.

oh, just make sure you get shields and the carbon dash.
this thread is full of the manual owners so I think its always going to be a bit biased, but as mentioned its really down to personal preference, in my view(and others just not on this thread wink ) the F1 suits the car better and can perform faster than a well driven manual.. But as mentioned its personal preference the manual was still good, just not as good wink...

as for the PS3 owners comment, I came from a 450bhp+ TVR Cerbera which has zero driving aids, and I still choose the F1 after driving them back to back.

good luck with the hunt though, and post pics when you get one!

@gcpeters :

Here is my personal opinion :
If I had to choose an automated-manual transmission : double-clutch without hesitation.
The F430 F1 is a nice gearbox, but nowadays there's been so much improvement with the Zero Lift you can get on the current Ferrari's.

Of course it is personal taste, but with the 6-speed manual we don't look for performance.
It is the interaction between the driver, the perfect shifting and the joy of selecting gears with that beautiful gearbox.

Personally I think the manual works better with the F355 than the F430 and the F430 actually suits the F1 especially in the superfast II Scuderia which must be the pinnacle of single clutch boxes and suits the nature of the track biased car.

Double clutch cars are so quick and efficient but don't feel like the superfast II in the Scud.

well......i was becoming obsessed with 458s last year and the thought of trading up was very much on my mind..... but my hunch about manual 430s eventually becoming a prized possession due to the rarity factor and the fact that they were the last off the line at maranello available with a manual box.........looks like i was right! and it looks like i'm hanging on to this one with both hands!!!

I'd advise you to keep your manual F430 wink
The 458 is a fabulous machine (no contest about it), but a 6-speed manual F430 is much more involving... and sooooo rare ! smile

I'd been looking for quite some time, before I finally managed to pick up a 2006, F430 Spider, Rosso Corsa, Crema Leather, 19k miles in April of this year from a Ferrari Main Dealer. I paid £84K and feel certain it was a bargain..... Only seen one other same spec car for sale since, which sold within 48 hours!

In terms of any tips..... I would say make absolutely sure that you get your car thoroughly inspected by someone who really knows F430's inside and out, if you ask on here I'm sure one of the guys will be able to point you in the right direction.

My car came from a main dealer but has still had problems! The cost of these problems have thankfully all been covered and the repairs carried out by the main dealer, so I've been lucky. Not long after purchase it came to light that I needed a new clutch, as it was slipping very slightly in high gears under hard acceleration, then another common problem, the manifolds (headers) became an issue, all within the first 3 months of ownership, total cost to me if I'd bought privately, would have been circa £10K!!

Good luck with your search but do be careful, as some expensive repairs may be lurking which aren't immediately apparent.

That said, please don't let this story put you off, get a thorough inspection and a good car and you'll be one very happy man - A very rare car indeed...... Prices will only go one way!

My advice would be to buy private or main dealer only, if you buy Indy as I did, you may suffer the same losses I have putting it right.

Trust me, that's ££££ worth of advice right there
