New phishing scam to be wary of whilst selling on here
Discussion
Well, I'm joining the club here. Alan contacted me about my car I have for sale, he seemed very legit and after several back and forth messages he asked me to complete an online check using advancedHPI.co.uk id never heard of the website before and noticed it took 2-3 hours for a report to come through so I found another website and completed an instant check which I paid £20 for. I forwarded it to his email address (same as others have said) and he replied saying id completed the wrong check and he wanted one from the website he mentioned. When I compared what my report covers Vs his I couldn't figure out what the difference was so I went to call him and the voicemail wasn't linked to a network and sounded like an American phone. Thought that was strange so I googled his number and we'll, here I am 🥲 very convincing! Be careful out there!
Alan has just contacted me too via text from 07445004165. Again another genuine enough start to the conversation, willing to drive up from Canterbury to the midlands to pay cash for the A45 I have listed which started to ring alarm bells. Then he asked me to click on the advancedhpi link. No thanks! Be careful out there.
Another Alan member - only had the car listed a day and got the first text - googled the number and came straight to this thread.
Replied to his message asking to view telling him that it’s been sold - that seems to have stopped more messages
Thanks all

Been exchanging a few text messages regards a car I am selling. Right for the off it did not seem 100% but replied and today have the request to visit the Autochecks website. I never click on supplied links but Google frost and ended up here as well. The same usual number now blocked
