Should have added, I did nearly 2000 mikes in 10 days and didn’t see another A110!

All set for this evening's sailing for Bilbao, then eleven days driving home...

The cabin is still empty, and Mrs L is on record as saying 'the car holds more than you'd think'; which it does.

So there we were, just over the Pyrenees, having a spot of lunch, when up bowls a Renault owner -who also turned out to be an A110 & A310 owner. Needless to say, we conversed. And I have to admit, the car did look rather bonny...

It was again time to get my Alpine serviced in the beginning of May 2024 and that meant another road trip to Europe. The plan was to take a ferry from Helsinki to Travemünde and then continue to Netherlands with planned stops in Den Bosch and Breda. Then short drive from Breda to Antwerp to Alpine Antwerpen. Once the car would be serviced, then plan was to drive to Northern Netherlands to Groningen. Then from Groningen to Hamburg and from there back to Travemünde. It was altogether 8 day trip and 1,700 km of driving.

More detailed report on my trip can be found here:
https://pertti.com/en/alpine/01c-my-a110-experienc...

View over Travemünde seen from the ferry.

St. John's Cathedral in Den Bosch, the Netherlands.

Antwerp railway station.

Kinderdijk windmills in the Netherlands.

Alpine in Frederiksoord, the Netherlands.

Drawbridge near Delfzilj, the Netherlands.

Lovely Lamborghini Miura at the Car Museum Prototyp in Hamburg, Germany.

Nice encounter with a German A110 owner near Travemünde.

We have arrived in Dinan, just over 1000 miles since leaving home. The trip is showing 39 mpg at an average speed of 38 mph, the latter surprising given the amount of 110kph+ motorway driving we have done. Torrential rain in the last couple of days means the car remains quite clean...

We finally arrived in St Malo for the ferry, where a grinning face at the guichet said "Ah, a Renault!", all in good humour and with a twinkle in his eye. He probably enjoys winding up English drivers, I thought. Then to security , who asked us to pop the frunk and made appreciative comments about the car. Finally, on entering the car deck we were signalled to one side and escorted -it's the only word- to the front of the lower deck, right by the bow door. We will be first off. All part of the experience of travelling en Alpine in France: small boys call out, pedestrians gather, other drivers wave. Despite the challenges, a good trip: a very, very good trip.
