At £500 the radiator seems reasonable, whereas the distributor arm and cap are what Stella Artois used to advertise as reassuringly expensive...

That's lovely. Really lovely.

Now then, make sure your new plates go on with 4 screws each, as Mercedes intended, and not sticky tape.

Thank you! And don't worry plates getting drilled today!

I really liked my 500SL of the same sort of vintage, and yours looks a cracker. Enjoy it.

Very nice. Price seems very reasonable considering the work it's had done and the peace of mind of buying from somewhere like that.

In a massive pain in the arse something has come up that I now need to fund... So this may end up the briefest ownership periods of all time and most painful financial baths I've taken...FFS!

Ah well someone might get an SL Shop prepped car with new tyres for private money ...one can only laugh

Oh no, Joe! Literally just found your thread on this today. Hope it’s nothing serious - guess the SL shop will have it back, albeit at less than you paid? If nothing else, you’ve taught me the place exists as I have never heard of it before.

Good luck with your next purchase, whenever that may be!

They'd take it back SOR but not what you want ideally. It doesn't have to go so I'll price it a couple of grand less than what I paid and see where I end up.

Hi Joe

Looks like a great car good luck with it, Bruce at the SL shop is an old pal of mine, they should look after you pretty well.

Remember I sold you the hard top stand? Well it's a small world but the famous SL above was mine too,

I sold it to Harry but it was a standard anniversary model then, he's done a great job with it.

I still have the blue R129 that you saw when you came over and the 500SL R107

Oops, just read that you may sell it on.......

Regards
Ray

So may have found another way to cover what I needed to fund which is positive. That in mind I took it out this morning to dry bond a bit more.

When you get into a flow it's a lovely thing, it does roll more than my 320 but I assume that's the land anchor in the front.

I'm going to try and do the stereo myself to save a few quid on fitting.

Luckily looks like I'll be able to keep it through moving a few other bits about.

Yes I remember the stand, annoyingly let that go with the other car so had to buy a new one!

Private plate in so guess that means it's staying... Managed to resist removing the factory screws!

Made it to the last Duke of London Classics & Cake. Horrible weather for it but the car was the perfect companion for wafting across London.

I've found a couple of small leaks from the heavy rain but nothing that can't be fixed.

Sadly had to rearrange my stereo fitting so need to resort that! Happy with the car though!
