We have an ID Buzz with Assistance Pack Plus which includes, among other things, "Area View including rear view camera system".

It also has a "delete rear view camera" option, but the lease company advised me that it still had area view.

On receipt of the car, there was evidently no rear view camera, as expected, but also no front or side (wing mirror) cameras and no area view functionality. The lease company again confirmed that it should have the area view functionality.

We've eventually been told by VW that the rear view camera is a requirement of area view, so deleting the rear view camera means area view functionality is lost. They didn't comment on the other cameras, but I imagine this is why those on the front/side are also deleted.

Given that area view would seem to be a more significant option than rear view camera, it seems odd that the delete option would only reference the rear view... surely if losing the rear camera means losing area view and three other cameras, wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that to be mentioned confused

If anyone could shed any light on this, or has a Buzz with the 'delete rear camera' option and can confirm the absence (or not!) of the other cameras, I'd be most grateful smile

Indeed rolleyes

Had it been a personal lease we would probably have reached a resolution by now, but as it's a business lease the process is different i.e. they seem to care less.

The exact nuances of the ordering system, mixed with mistakes, mixed with availability/delays are a minefield.

There's also the odd little one like this where something doesn't translate well. Look at the build sheet of a car and there will be a random, single line either in the original German or simple nonsensical.

It'll come down to exactly what was ordered. If it was ordered this way then it is what it is, and an argument over semantics is impossible to win. If you submitted the order differently to what has been delivered (and can prove this) then you may have a case.

I suspect you're right... perhaps a poor translation in the spec.

I was really hoping that someone else might have a Buzz with the rear camera deletion, so we could confirm whether or not the other cameras are also missing on their car. That would help move this forward... emails from the broker confirm that it should have area view. It doesn't, so we're trying to identify why/where the error occurred. It's a nice enough car, but not what we ordered irked

Wouldn't trust a thing a broker says on spec. They're unlikely to know or have anything concrete to verify with.
