I just ran a quote on a 2022 plate Defender P400 and it comes in at £1550 which is cheaper than what my Golf R costs me to insure!

However a FFRRS is £5,215.95.
Hate acronyms what the hell, is " FF "

fking fked ?
Full Frame ??
Forever Friends ?.

Range Rover Sport ?
If you don’t know what FF RRS is, then I think you’ve found yourself in the wrong place my son.
Explain Dad or is this some fkwit Acronyms' that has fk all to do with Range Rovers ,?

If its supposed to mean top of the range then just put " Autobiography ultimate edition" or as these appear to be uninsurable , i'd opt for

the Kahn Autobiography

ticks all the boxes

Does that have little steps in it or is it smooth? Must be annoying trying to slide something in the back and it getting stuck on the lip

Full Fat Range Rover (FFRR) is a necessary evil as even the bloomin’ dealers call them ‘Vogues’ now.

Range Rover is a model designation in it’s own right.

Sport, Velar, Evoque are a sub species.

It’s JLR’s own fault for trying to turn Range Rover into a brand.

I’d say Range Rover is now a brand. The models are Vogue, Sport, Velar and Evoque - all come in different levels of specification.

No such model as “Vogue”, and nor was there ever - just a former trim level.

Lol, the accepted abbreviations have always been FFRR or RRS in day to day chat. Anything more than that is just simply getting into a more detailed conversation about models and trims.

No idea what an FFRRS is though, typo maybe?

I’ve often seen them mentioned at Vogue, Vogue SE and Vogue Autobiography; therefore I've assumed that as the Range Rover sub brand has expanded then Vogue became the model for what most of us refer to as the FFRR. Every day is a school day!

My understanding is the biggest Range Rover (the 'Full Fat') trim levels are Vogue, Vogue SE and Autobiography. Then add anything else that JLR have dreamt up like 'Unlimited' or some such.

For example, I have a Range Rover Autobiography SDV8.

On the L405 there was SVAutobiography as the next trim level up from Autobiography

Sorry, yes. But I was referring to Vogue being a model trim level not a model like Sport or Velar.

IIRC - The 'Flagship' car is simply referred to as 'Range Rover'.

Range Rover is also the model range, so you then also have 'Range Rover Sport', 'Range Rover Velar', etc...

The problem comes when someone asks "What do you drive?".
"I drive Range Rover"
"Oh, which one? Sport, Evoque?"

"Vogue" has been used to distinguish the flagship model from the others but as correctly pointed out, this term is just a trim level.

But in some ways, I think it's typical LR. When the Evoque first arrived, we had "Pure", "Prestige" and "Dynamic", whilst everything else was "SE", "HSE", etc.

Hey ho

It's a never ending conversation when in the car with my wife

Me "I want a Range Rover"
Her "That one looks quite nice"
Me "That's an Evoque, no thanks"
Her "But is says Range Rover on it"

And so on through every different model. Until we see a FF.

Me "That's the one"
Her " It's a bit big"

The difference between a Discovery Sport and a Sport blows her mind. It's sort of fair enough for a non particularly car person as the design language is so strong you do have to occasionally look twice.

Not anymore...it's now SE, HSE, Autobiography and SV.

I live mid Surrey. I have a LR DS 2.2 SD4 HSE Luxury 2015, current value say £19,000. I have full NCD. Car is garaged, I have a steering lock, and the keyless entry is disabled. Car insured at the moment with LV, premium is £736. Renewal is due 31 March, just got renewal package from the broker. They have found it necessary to get a quote from a different insurer, Agean, and the premium is £1,336. I know it sounds crazy, but I feel a bit relieved as I was anticipating no company would be interested, or maybe something around £2,000+, judging by the media, what I see on PH, etc.

My current thinking is to go ahead as per the package because I really don't think I'm going to get this much cheaper via the meercats etc. However, this week I switched our home contents insurance to Admiral at a fantastic price (current insurer's renewal quote £1,250, Admiral £410) so I may see what they quote to add the car, which the standard stuff they have sent to me is pushing for.

R.
Just to update anyone interested, I did get quotes from a comparison website. I was surprised how many companies were willing to quote. The cost ranged between about £1100 and £3500. I have decided to go ahead with the quote from Ageas via the broker.

BTW, Admiral declined to quote when I tried their own website. They did quote on the comparison website. All rather strange...maybe they quote to look like being in the market but refuse to proceed if they are selected.

I’m not in London but I’ve just had a renewal quote from Hastings taking the premium from £1015 to £2069 for our 2017 L405. No changes to the car, drivers etc. That’s acceptable considering what I’ve read here and elsewhere, I was expecting worse.
For reference I paid £1460 in the end

Looks a good price. For me, the cheapest on moneysupermarket was around £1100 as I recall. I did not go for it because the cover was inferior.

We do not live far apart so the location factor should not be too different. I live between Guildford and Leatherhead.
