I hate the way they have made the rear lights so similar between many of the models

Just makes the cars look like Russian dolls. Who wants a 100k E63 that looks like a 5 year old CLA?

Interiors have become more and more tacky.. maybe trying to appeal to Insta brain dead morons?

I have a C63 W205... the only other models I would consider are the AMG GT (not very practical in London - the bonnet is the size of Texas) and the S class coupe from a few years back
Regarding the Russian Doll thing, it was impossible to tell an W124 E Class and W210 190E apart unless you were a Mercedes beard so this is far from something new for them. I can't tell the W222 S Class and W213 E Class apart for love nor money either.

The interiors really are something else though, from the W222 S Class onwards they seem to have gone full 29p energy drink, with more quilted vinyl and colourful lights than you can wave a vape at, with lots of oversized screens everywhere like all the best homes hehe

I've no objection if you think it might be 'of interest' wink , although I suspect I'd then be persona non grata biggrin

Unfortunately, if that's the correct word, I've been spoilt by seeing a near'ish-neighbour's DB5, a local DB4 Zagato and a 90's Vantage V550 over many years, cars that, to me, really stood out in their day, and still do.

Unfortunately, safety regns., crash tests and computer design have led to many lookalikes, making it increasingly more difficult to stand out (ie the Bentayga suffers the same identity issues, IMHO). I'm also well aware of Aston's financial history from its pre-David Brown days (at cost price? Certainly, that''ll be another £1,000 please) to the present day, including almost certainly owing its current existence to Hayes and Ford, and am pleased that it's still a 'British' brand, but, and it's a big but for me, shouldn't an Aston Martin (and Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley etc.) stand out?

Having said that, if I were to actually drive one, perhaps I'd be more persuaded, even with its MB running-gear etc..

Thank you. Most of the AM Phers are sports car owners (and in particular, pre M-B era) and so do not have much interest in the DBX.

'if I were to actually drive one' You should try a manual 4.7 Vantage. A magnificent end of era car, big V8, naturally aspirated, no turbos, minimal exhaust restrictors, considered to be amongst the best looking and sounding cars.

You display a good knowledge of AML. The Ford era was successful, indeed the model mention above was a product of that era.
Making money has never been possible, but the brand is so strong, that after every financial collapse, a fresh benefactor steps forward .

The colour thing is so tedious. Dealers push new buyers into yet another primer-coloured blob, because "look, they're so much more popular for resale". Well yes of course they are, because there are almost no other colours available for used buyers, and so the cycle repeats.

Fortunately on PH/AT you can unfilter to remove all the black/white/grey/silver when searching.

r

WRT the colour aspect, I'd never buy a white car but my filters are always set to (dark) blue and grey. I never completely rule out black so that's my 3rd choice but it's a worst case scenario. I might even go for silver at a real push. But would much prefer one of the more subtle darker colours on my shortlist.

Back to Mercs; I really liked them up to and including the W204/5 and W212/3 but they lost me after that point. And they can't stop plastering the alloys with black paint. Hideous idea. Ruins them.

I meant 'If I were to actually drive a DBX'; years ago, I came very close to changing my TVR for a manual 4.7 Vantage Roadster, one of the few cars that I felt offered a similar experience.
Apologies for taking thread off-topic.
