Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio... reliability
Discussion
I've got the AHM exhaust mod, I had it fitted 3 weeks after ownership. It's brilliant. I don't even both sticking it in Race anymore, just leave it in Dynamic and go....
And in this cold weather the valves absolutely love it, pops and bangs very random, sometimes f-in loud like a gun going off. I also find Shell VPower offers more bangs vs Tesco Momentum.
I've changed Corsa's to MPS4S and up sized 255 & 295 front & rear, massive improvement over the restrictions of the corsa's IMO.

I’ve now seen the AMH kit and that’s a defo for me, and great to hear it is a noisy beast when open just what I want for fun, yet making it quite when I want. As this will be contract hire , I usually do the service and tyre pack as well but deliberating this as does not give you the freedom with tyres this car may need. On my XEs it really need a different brand for the winter but refuse to pay twice (on contract then out my pocket) so I get a lot of rear sliding if I want that fun of not.

I've got the itch for one of these and it's good to see so many positive stories.
I fancy a change from my Cayman GTS (981), the only thing that holds me back is will I miss the pork??
Drive one. But make sure you have the ability/permission to buy one.I fancy a change from my Cayman GTS (981), the only thing that holds me back is will I miss the pork??
FWIW, a QV owner I know swapped his 991 C2 for one. Went to drive it to prove it couldn't compete, placed an order there and then.
Mine is a Sept 2017 car.
19k miles in. It's incredible.
No faults apart from a dodgy headlight (full beam flap stuck - this is not a part made by Alfa, replaced under warranty) and front suspension arm needed replacing after driver training day where we repeatedly performed emergency stops from 100+MPH (10+ times) whilst turning hard left. Replaced under warranty, no questions. Otherwise driven hard as intended and has performed faultlessly.
If you are thinking of getting one don't fanny around and just do it.

To add - just had a flashback from when I was challenged by a 911 GTS cab with the roof down on the autobahn on the way to Italy last year. I was a couple of car lengths ahead after a 70ish-130mph drag. The serious looking German bald guy in the 911 did not look happy. His Mrs was sat next to him and I think the Alfa put his German masculinity to shame.
For the chap thinking about swapping his porker for the Alfa. They are very different cars. Very. Different cars for different purposes. You will never find the same sense of agility. Nor will it fee anywhere near as special.
I have gone back and forth from 911 to generalist performance cars and no matter what the porker will always be special.
BUT if you have to do it because of practical reasons or similar then fine. But think twice. Also depreciation is going to be much worse compared to a 981 GTS which will be in demand.
Again. Take an extended test drive and see. Torque is not everything. But it can please some trying to impress their GF. Take the car to a track and the 981 will go around all day, the Giulia probably not so.

Picking up my Vesuvius Grey Giulia Quad next week, and thanks to your mention I've just ordered the exhaust mod!And in this cold weather the valves absolutely love it, pops and bangs very random, sometimes f-in loud like a gun going off. I also find Shell VPower offers more bangs vs Tesco Momentum.

What did you notice about the Corsa tyres?

You've driven both? I've not driven the 981 GTS but the Alfa is the very definition of agility when you drive one, it's widely accepted to be one of it's most outstanding traits.
I think it also feels special, and quite exclusive.
I'm not sure that is always the case with weissach products unless they are the top tier ones.
And for Extra Spice you get a Ferrari Engine thrown in.

Agree with that the Giulia QV feels special and exotic and that's coming from someone who has owned Porsches, BMW M5 & M3, AMG's, Maserati Granturismo.
Having driven many cars I also agree the QV feels more special than almost anything plus I’ve seen more GT3s on the road so also very exclusive! rosino said:

not wanting to be left out of this AO jerk circle, i agree just buy one!
12,000m in a year and a quarter, no issues so far touch wood, other than my own making (well some munter who cut me up in a 4x4's making) just font hit any kerbs with the front splitter.
as for the exhaust mod, as i perhaps incorrectly assume that contract hire means you wont be buying it either outright or the end of the pcp, wouldn't that stop you getting a that mod?

I am just stating the obvious here. No need to be defensive to justify your purchases. They are different cars for different purposes. One is a 4 door saloon, albeit very special and the other one a compact 2 seater which is much smaller and easier to place on UK roads.
The Alfa might be super special for a saloon car, or even special full stop. But it's just not a sports coupe. Fact.
In an ideal world you would have both, easy. As only choice they serve different purposes.
In terms of depreciation the last n/a Porsche cars will hold better their value, I can easily find a Giulia 2018 with barely any miles on it for 50k.. so depreciation is very very real. You can buy a nice good 981 GTS and you will lose less on that front, again it might not be relevant to you.
You will only find out what you really prefer by trying both, I am just saying that when i jumped from a 911 into an M3 I always missed the special nature of the 911. The QV is a much better car than the M3 but it's still a 4 door car.
That said I might get one in coming months so it can't be that bad

I think we probably both seem like fanboys to each other but the Alfa really does drive like a sports car.
For me the steering and response are comparable to a Lotus Evora that I tested for example.
It's quite different in feel to RS, AMG and M saloon/estate products that I've driven, more alive, more alert, more tactile, less of a blunt instrument..
