Hi guys, I’m seriously considering buying a fairly new Gulia QV. Maybe 2022 model or a brand new face lifted one if I can get my hands on one fairly quickly.
How has everyone on here been getting on with theirs in regards to reliability? I’ve never owned an Alfa before and there seems to be so many scary stories about them….I had considered a 911 (but not enough room in the back to fit the kids in), I’d considered the new G87 M2 (but not a fan of its boxy shape) and also the G80 M3 (but hate the front nostrils). The Gulia QV Is definitely the sexiest of my potential options BUT extremely fearful of the reliability and dealership aftercare.
Does Alfa still offer the extended 5 year warranty on the QV???
Also which colour would one recommend? I want something that pops and feels special, currently considering either Etna Red or Verde Green?? Opinions please! And also which options would you guys recommend on this car??

The 997 is more capable and makes a better noise, but the Giulia is more playful to drive in reality and the sheer positivity of the reaction you get to it is ridiculous, everyone loves them. Mine wasn’t even a QF.
I’d happily go back and not feel short-changed.
I’m convinced most issues come from oil and batteries. The multiair units have filters in them that get clogged and “can’t” be changed. Solution is to change oil with the correct stuff even sooner than the short intervals. I did this however I’m not sure the correct oil was used on one service - immediate misfires after service and a new multiair unit needed shortly after.
My car was an early car and would throw lights for fun, but it was always battery related. If I was to have another I’d keep it on a trickle charger.
All colours look good, honestly there’s no bad option. Go with your gut on that one and you won’t be disappointed.

Is the 5 year warranty still available for the QV? From various internet searches, it seems that Alfa offer a 3 year one on a brand new QV, 2 years manufacturer one and 1 year with the dealership? What’s the difference in the final 3rd year? Different cover?? Also why no option to extend to a full 5 years??
I’m hoping that all the quirks are now sorted out on these cars since the platform has been around for so many years.

An update from a happy owner - mine is now six and a half years old and, apart from a new battery this year (fair enough for the age), has been completely trouble-free, and flew through its MOT recently.The people who have had problems tend to shout the loudest. Mine is a 2017 car, owned it since new and done 25,000 miles. I have had no issues with reliability and the only significant bill was the last one outside of normal servicing costs. Work needed was:
Replacement rear discs and pads (car was left for a few weeks after being driven in the snow and handbrake pads got stuck to discs)
New stainless brake bleed nipples (others corroded)
Both rear anti roll-bar drop links replaced
Dump valve boot replaced as a precaution
Modified scuttle fitted (to avoid water dropping on to electrics - probably rectified on newer cars)
1st Replacement battery

The Pirelli P Zeros don’t perform well, but Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s are a significant improvement. The only other issue which I need to resolve is for some reason the cruise control recently stopped working…

It was only available on a private purchase too, not on leased cars, so was actually quite rare. It was called 5-3-5, 5 year warranty, 3 year servicing, 5 year recovery. My 2019 Stelvio has it, runs out in March 2024.

why not add in a nissan micra or caterham super7 in your mix of random completely different and non comparable options as well for good measure.

I've been toying on the idea of buying a Gulia QV since it launched and for whatever reason just didn't happen, Now looking for an Interesting family car I'm back on the lookout,
My main question Is can someone tell me If I should go for a facelift or pre facelift car and what reasons should a facelift be better / updates/ more reliable or just internet crap?
I don't mind either one in terms of 'looks alone' but I would be interested in buying the right one so If It means spending a little more for the facelift or If I can save some money If there isn't much benefit from the Facelift ones.

The pre face lift don’t have a GPF so the exhaust is slightly louder (not much imo).
Hear change in Race mode have a louder crack on the upshift.
On the Giulia, pre 2020 should have the carbon roof - facelift cars only had carbon if it was a paid option.
I prefer the slightly different interior layout in the later cars, and whilst the touchscreen isn’t up to BMW standard is actually good enough - I tend to use the central wheel instead of the touchscreen.
Facelift cars also have thicker glass and better NVH which some people don’t like.
Very happy with mine..
