RE: MG Cyberster goes on sale priced from £55k
Discussion
According to Autocar the Cyberster 2wd is 1850kg - 750kg more than a TF. The faster 4wd version is 135kg heavier. Apparently due to the battery pack you sit rather high - ironically the MGF/TF had the same issue. Surprised they haven't shown a hardtop option yet - one for the aftermarket? Apparently this isn't the only MG sports car being planned.
They’ve somehow managed to copy lots of great bits from lots of great looking cars and somehow put them all together and made something that, in my opinion, has a whiff of budget about it.
Again, IMHO, ehe car looks great as long as you don’t look at it for more than a few seconds. If you do then you realise that every nice looking but just doesn’t work with the bit next to it.
Shame.
Oh, and it’s about as British as Bubble Tea!

Chinese built; Fully Electric, stupid doors....and about £20k too much - No thanks; And that's from an MG fan.
They should have aimed more at an MX5 equivalent, as MG are not a premier brand. They should have made it all petrol...Or hybrid - But NOT fully electric. Those doors, i dont like - Look like something some "oik" would do to his hot-hatch
A nice 2nd hand F-Type or Boxter, for 1/2 the price would be my preferred choice.
The Chinese just don't understand the brand they've bought / "Stolen" from us.

Atleast they're even making an effort to produce a 2 seater, whether that's a sportscar or a GT.
Yes, at least someone is. All well and good frothing about the Chinese, but somebody needs to give the domestic manufacturers the enormous kick up the arse that they need. Frankly, if the Chinese eat their dinner, they've nobody to blame but themselves. Between Tesla and China, they look pathetic.WestyCarl said:

Why does everyone care about cars' weight so much yet there are so many fat people about?

As someone who until recently was just under 14st, I’m now on some life-extending meds that have made me put weight on to the tune of 1/2st in a month.
If I were racing on motorbikes I’d readily notice that I guess?

MG Cyberster Roadster 1985kg
Porsche Boxster 4.0 1480kg
It's not really a Boxster competitor; it's far closer in size and ethos to, say, a Mercedes SL or Jaguar F-type:Porsche Boxster 4.0 1480kg
F-type: 1818kg
Mercedes SL: 1,910kg
So it's still heavier, but not by a huge margin.
