Sagaris Rebuild

What are you plans for engine management? Definitely room for improvement over the original.
Syvecs is the way to go in my direct experience. They were the first to crack the problem of fitting knock sensors to the S6 when everyone said it couldn't be done, and then others followed suit.
Obviously others are available but you won't get any better that Syvecs in my opinion.

Dave, you are a glutton for punishment. I remember seeing photos of the Chim when you started.
This looks like a very nice project. Good luck and I will follow it.
As an aside, are you keeping the Chim as well, or will that have to go (or already gone)?
Hi Duncan, good yo here from - hope all is well? This looks like a very nice project. Good luck and I will follow it.

No still have the Chimaera, with no plans to let it go.
Here she is now …

Is it possible to add more side impact protection (any modern SUV will ride straight over the low level of the current side impact tubing) like a door cross bar, and also rollover bar/tubing? The existing chassis is very sub-standard by todays metrics.
The Sagaris already has a full roll cage. I think it also has side impact bars in the doors. The picture is showing only the chassis

You could ditch all the electronic stuff and turn it into a proper sports car, well at least get rid of some of the gear that's OTT
What electronic stuff? Don1 said:
In that case I would look at how to protect the corner of the chassis behind the front wheels in particular. That corner gets shot blasted.
Yes a good plan. You can buy Kaylan sheet in various thicknesses and tidily zip-tie it to the area, it's the stuff mudflaps are made from, tough! Fitted on my T350 from new and chassis is still fine at 73k.

How does that actually differ from the chimera chassis. ?
The Sagaris is meant to be much stiffer, but the chassis doesn't look much different to the chim or cerb ones I've seen
That will be the roll cage that incorporates... door posts, steering column, roll cage and the 14 bolts that attach that to the chassis. to the outriggers to the central spine. THEN this is the wider track chassis. Here is a link to a Tamora build that the Sagaris chassis evolved from (the sagaris chassis turns into a generic chassis that late T cars have, note all the additional wishbone pick up holes) The Sagaris is meant to be much stiffer, but the chassis doesn't look much different to the chim or cerb ones I've seen

The roll cage must have a significant benefit.
For a separate roll cage to provide a significant stiffness benefit then it needs to be made of thick tubing (similar to the existing chassis) and be bolted down at multiple points on large spreader plates. The TVR backbone style chassis is about 50-60 years out of date, so I'm skeptical that a skinny roll cage inside a fibreglass body is going to add much.Olivera said:
