These seem to have been revamped a month or so back and now have all manner of small cameras on them, anyone know if they are red light cameras?

It doesn't say they are and they are not big and yellow like red light cameras typically are, but having had cars run reds coming out of the cherry tree junction toward Miami roundabout, when i was going into town - the London road lights had gone green already - makes me wonder if these c*nts will be nicked?

if not RL cameras what are they for?

Drove through that junction a couple of times yesterday - see what you mean re cameras, assume it's these, by way of upgrading: https://www.essexhighways.org/intelligent-transpor...

Can't find specifics re these works as now appear completed.

Agree re people jumping lights there though, especially turning right onto NLR, been a problem for years.

ah probably them...re. jumpers don't want to cast aspersion on the housing from that direction (indeed my lineage has that in it), but... all fits...

Turning right from Writtle Road onto NLR (i.e towards the Miami) has long been an issue as the white lines are set some distance back from the junction & as such the green light never seems to be on for very long - if you get caught behind a larger vehicle chances are you won't get through on that light cycle. Not sure if these changes have altered the light timing.

I usually cut down Upper Bridge St to avoid that junction if I'm heading towards the city centre (plus it's a more interesting route).

Old thread but I had an issue similar to the ones discussd today.

Coming from Moulsham street onto the roundabout. I get through the first set of lights on the London Road junction, but (not familiar wtih the roundabout), I find the next set of lights are very close and have already gone to red as I've gone through them. Absolutely did not mean to and have never gone through a red light before! Only thing I can think oif is the tree blocking the light on the roundabout, as it was only the other st of lights i saw on the left, not the right.

Different place. Cherry tree is a signalled crossroads.

Do you mean the miami/tesco roundabout?

But there is no exit from moulsham Street onto miami, moulsham Street joins New London Road opposite rising sun pub. New London Road joins the miami but not sure if that exit is signalled. The next set before tesco are.

And yes, Moulsham street does go onto the roundabout. It then branches off past oaklands park with New London Road (B1007) continuing north from Moulsham street. New London Road doesn't actually reach the roundabout.

Ok but moulsham Street doesn't join the RB new London Road or London Road (nkt sure what it's called...it may change along its length) joins it.

The signals before tesco then the next set before the britvic bridge are very close, if that's the ones you mean. But thought they was synced. People used to jump the reds there all the time too genrally. Haven't been that way in some time though to see if they still do. Since they messed thr Road layout up avoid at all costs.

Yes that's it.

No, I don't think they were synced when I went through them. I was honestly shocked at how close I was. Glad there are no cameras but know Essex Police does have a dashcam footage reporting service as you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9qXOdZdyY4a and there are videos of people going through red lights and they're getting stung with 6 points for careless. Granted, they are very clearly going through the lights deliberately but to an untrained eye it could look like the same for me.

It's a really bad roundabout, like I said, I can't remember what it wasl ike today but you look back on street view and some years the lights are actually covered.

Glad to know I'm not the only one - it certainly was not deliberate.

They replaced the traffic lights last year but don't know if they're different timings to the last as I rarely go over that way and the lights were only ever part time anyway (they still are).

The local MP wrote about the phasing of the traffic lights here as recently as February

The local mp is an idiotess.

The roundabout was fine until the recent lane changes that reduce capacity and cause tailbacks across the town.

I can't comment on that though it doesn't surprise me, what does surprise me or did rather was the short distance between traffic lights.
