My lad is very keen on getting a BRZ. (2016 my)
I’m not up to date on Subarus since my UK Turbo back in 1999, so any owners able to give me an insight into ownership please?
Cheers.

I’ve owned mine (2012) for 4-years now and it’s not needed anything other than an annual service.

I’ve also got a Blobeye WRX which I’ve had 12 years and in that time it’s only needed a new clutch, alternator and transfer box rebuild.

I've had a 2016 car for three years and had no issues. Basic servicing and consumables is all its needed. The diff bushes are starting to perish so I'll need to swap them out soon. As with many modern cars I would say they're pretty reliable as long as they've been serviced regularly.

Some cars have suffered from oil starvation issues on track and that seems to be remedied by a baffled sump. Forced induction has been known to cause issues above 300hp too as the rods weren't built for it.

Overall they're relatively simple cars that are fairly reliable as long as they're looked after and not abused.

Thanks, good to know.

Just missed a one owner 2016 with 38k miles - he’s gutted.
Not many for sale with decent mileage, although loads of GT86’s.

Aargh, I was ready to sell my 2016 BRZ with 22k miles and totally mint. But SWMBO vetoed it as it would mean me spending more money...

They are generally very reliable cars if well maintained. I use 5w30 oil in mine as the 0w20 is a very thin oil. All the yanks with moon mileage cars use the slightly thicker oil.
Interior creaks and rattles are not unusual.
Good luck with your search they are fantastic driving cars...

Cheers..... Tony..
