Saw that map a while ago and wasn’t sure it was genuine. Looks amazing with the keys and Disney etc going to be like the best summer holiday ever exploring Florida in GTA

GTA game map sizes (VI according to a leak). At least on size, calling VI the same as before because it's Vice City again is like comparing Blackpool to Paris because they've both got a metal tower.

Surely the Vice City map is smaller than in that comparison? It was only a few minutes drive from end to the other

I loved the rumour it was going to be set in London or even rockstar home turf of Scotland.

I’m still really looking forwards to it but yes, somewhere new would have been awesome also.
Would love it in principle, but I think the reality wouldn’t work so well for GTA. The culture, particularly in relation to weapons, probably wouldn’t make sense. I know you can’t roam with an RPG in the US but it’s much closer than here.

They should do what they do with Assassins Creed, where you can buy DLC maps for London, Glasgow etc.

Who is the longest running character? Is it Laslo from the talk radio? I remember there being a mission involving him in the last one but can’t remember if he dies.
Yeh crafty was right. Talking about the PH crew. Many nights with 20+ of us on going mad. Races, and pvp. Used to.be on every night after work until changed career and ended up working away Monday Friday away from home for past 7 year. Canceled ps+ as wasn't feasible.

That straight line where the map just ends at the top is a bit suspect. Not seen that in any other map before.

I think Vice City was probably a bit bigger than people remember. The two main islands you could go from top to bottom very quickly because both had one road (OK a bit of a kink in the middle on the first) going all the way from the top to the bottom

An interesting comparison is how much bigger it was than GTA3

I realise I have never meaningfully played San Andreas.

I loved Vice City, V and IV in order - should I have a go at San Andreas or would I be disappointed?

I can only speak of my experience, but going back to playing PS2 games now, it really is lacklustre.

Theres barely anyone on the streets, cars are scarce and the "feel" is very off.

Personally I loved San An back in the day, now, I wouldnt waste 5 minutes with it

The solid land at the top edge could be like that because it's not known yet. The map based on the leaks here has a coastline, the video says a map was put together from parts of the data having coordinates in it but there's no mention of the top being a coast or a cut off.

Thanks for the video

Yeah it's interesting isn't it how different that V community map ended up being, broadly similar but the desert area is completely in the wrong place. There will be a lot of artistic licence at play plus some bias from what they've seen on the internet, I imagine, plus what they know the area to look like in real life, which will be influencing their decisions on how the intricacies of the coastline look.

It's so great all of this though, like no other game they build huge amounts of excitement for the real thing

I must be one of the few fans of the OG GTAs that HASN'T played GTA 5....

I still play San Andreas on the PS4. The PS3 upscaled version not the piss poor remasters that I got sucked into buying online frown

Have to say I was a bit disappointed, I was hoping for a bit of a new location, there were rumours of a Japanese city for example, but they've gone with Vice City for the second time (third if you include the first game!). In another 10 years time they'll probably be back in Liberty City...
The whole point of the series is to take the mickey out of American culture (or lack thereof). Yes there was a GTA London back however many years but it is an American based game, IIRC they said years ago they thought about different locations but it didn't really work as well. Basically there's so much material in the states to make fun of its hard not to do it there.

Will try to pick up a cheap disc copy over the holidays and give it go.

I couldn't get into GTA4 and new Liberty City though. I don't know if it was just the new gen mechanics that I didn't gel with or it was the story, maybe it was both...

The problem with doing it in foreign countries is to get the atmosphere across. The pedestrians and their interactions with each other and the player, random swearing/comments are what really brings these games to life and adds so more to the general atmosphere; setting the game in Japan, Spain, Poland, Germany...you just don't get that. A fraction of the players will understand what's being said.

From movies/series and those that have been to the States in real life, we all have an idea of the exaggerated characters in the States. The GTA6 trailer showed GTA is going hard on the current generation and especially florida-ness of it all.

I'm the opposite of disappointed.

I told myself that after paying full whack for Far Cry 6 and BF2042 that I would never pre-order again. I shall break my promise to myself and will have this game on release day come hell or high water...
