BA Club Suites
Discussion
The looks of sheer disdain my brother and I got as we were extricated from the lounge bar by gate staff at PHX a few weeks ago, our names booming over the tannoy as we left the relative tranquillity and made the walk of shame.
I don't usually hang around in airport lounges, why don't they do a better job of notifying when boarding is taking place / closing?

At a busy airport they'd be announcing flights every few minutes and causing a disturbance for everyone in the lounge. I was at Edinburgh last weekend and they did announce the boarding opening but it was a quiet time and most people in the BA lounge were waiting for the same flight.
I was going to say you can just keep an eye on your airline app, but the BA app is so woeful you can't even do that.

my vote goes to the Cathay Pacific lounge in T3 once it doesn't clash with one of their flights. Always nice and quiet and a decent selection of food and drink plus a good view of the runway
shhh... mine too - will be there on Sunday for an early lunch - although normally pop into BA on my way to the gate to pilfer a couple of cans of IPA as the food and drink on American is so woefulTruckosaurus said:

Understood, it was dead, probably last international flight of the evening, we were watching the screen which just showed the gate number, no 'boarding now' or final call or anything.I was at Edinburgh last weekend and they did announce the boarding opening but it was a quiet time and most people in the BA lounge were waiting for the same flight.

I just thought if it got to the point the gate staff were literally looking for the last few missing BC passengers before closing boarding, it might have occured to them to pop a line to the lounge staff.
I joked to the staff checking boarding passes on the way in "we can't miss our flight can we" and they said oh no, the boards keep you updated.

You jammy sod. Enjoy! Don’t forget the obligatory oneworld lounge tour at T3.
Basically T3 has lots of lounges for other Oneworld airlines, so we can take our pick rather than just using the BA one, is that what you mean?Sport_Turismo_GTS said:

Bingo. As someone said above the Cathay lounge is great. I like to start in the Qantas lounge with a couple of G&T’s, they also do some decent light bites, then onto the Cathay lounge.
It’s going to be 8am, so not sure I’ll be wanting too many G&Ts before the flight matrignano said:
Looks similar to the (old?) First Class layout to me, except that it is fully enclosed?
Not as much room as first class, with fewer space for storage etc, but a very comfortable place to be for 12 hours. Food was pretty decent too. Most of our long-haul leisure travel uses BA Amex 2-for-1 vouchers, so we’ve always tried to get first class seats, but the new business class is a very good second option, depending on availability and price difference.

I'm on Qatar again in a couple of weeks for a combination of 4 long haul flights. Would never say i am looking forward to it, but let's just say I expect to enjoy the experience more than with American this weekend.
My experience with American was that the crew resented everything but that was made up for by their complete lack of training when it came to wine, they poured it like you would a pint! I never had to ask for more.Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
