Lol, i know what you mean on the staff - though last time they gave me some wine it tasted so horrible I left it - maybe I should try again, but I am normally quite happy with my 2 cans of pilfered BA Ale (although preferred Jetstream over Speedbird - really don't like AAs Goose). Qatar will be very different, I vaguely recall they make my favourite Martini variation in the lounge and can even make a half decent Martini on board .Edited by sleepezy on Friday 2nd February 10:47

I bought hundreds of cans of Speedbird 100 when brewdog sold that on their website for a bit. I really like that one. They Hoppy Xmas they had on board over the festive period was quite nice if a little strong. I normally bag a couple of cans as well, good to know I’m not the only one.sleepezy said:

I'm guessing this is for work - hence the lack of enthusiasm? For me its a hobby/holiday so super excited and counting the days!

Completely - the flights above don't include holiday flights. I am pleased for you that you're looking forward to your holiday flights - I would be too - it's the frequency and relentless of the work trips that wear me down.e.g. upcoming trip:

After 3 flights totalling 19 hours in the air and nearly 7 hours in airports land at Taiwan late on Friday afternoon.
Saturday travel for 4 hours by train and car to get to the supplier - meeting in the evening.
Sunday - meeting in the morning before doing the return car/train journey back to Taipei.
Monday - up early for an 8am flight back down to Singapore about lunchtime - meetings in the afternoon
Tuesday and Wednesday - Board meetings all day
Thursday 10am flights back to the UK - another 16 hours in the air and 4 hours in airports - get home late Thursday night
PS - I come back from a week long working trip to the US on the Saturday immediately preceding all this, just to make it harder
versus holiday:
Look forward to the break and trip for several weeks
Get up at a sensible time
1 flight to the destination
Chill out for a week - see some sights, drink some nice wine
Fly home with the start of a sun tan
Sorry, I've just realised that was a bit of a rant - guess I needed to get it off my chest !
It was cathartic.TLDR - travel for holiday is fun, for work lost it's appeal 16 months ago. I like travel, I am going to enjoy visiting a new country for the 1st time (Taiwan) and I am really pleased for the guys getting to experience decent business class flights while on holiday - for me it makes it the holiday that bit more special too.
At least I am not on 1st name terms with the flight attendants - used to see that on a previous project a few years ago when flying between UK and Seattle.

I know (once I found it - took a while - but not as bad as Philli or Pittsburgh, can't remember which, where for some reason I wandered around aimlessly past the escalators for a remarkable length of time) - it's not my first time bouncing through Doha to get to Singapore - I prefer it to a straight flight as 1) you get a decent break and chance to stretch legs and 2) I tend to split the journey into work/rest/eat/drink on one leg and just sleep the other (OK, sleep and drink...) And you get 560 tier points for the round trip instead of 320 (from memory, forgive me if the tier points are a little higher or lower).

I try to do less now, but sadly seem to be hit with monthly Singapore/Hong Kong / Sydney trips as well as Zurich.
Not so easy as you get older.
Club suites much better aside from the tiny foot box which gives me cramps!

I’m a side sleeper and I cope in the club suite. Just need to pick the correct side to fit your knees above the bottle bin.People outside think it is glamorous. It isn’t after the first trip.

No need to apologise - seems you really needed to get all that off you’re chest and I totally see where you’re coming from. It’s been a while but I’m expecting to do a Hong Kong -> Singapore-> Korea -> Beijing, -> Taiwan -> Japan trip soon, although not necessarily in that order!At least it will bump up my tier point allocation back towards Silver!

How’s Air France business? I’m fling to America with Virgin but on the way out it’s Air France vie CDG and Virgin upper via jfk on the way back. On the new Neo with Virgin which has the new seating and is brilliant. But never flown Air France.
