This always makes me laugh. People who live near airports and complain about planes…

Oh and the world is a very scary place right now… better they test and not need it…

This happens a lot.

"I moved to the country and will now complain about mud on the road from the farm."

"I moved to the coast and now complain about commercial shipping making noises at all times of day and night."

"I moved near a race track and will now complain about the noise of motorsport."

"I moved near and abattoir and am a vegan so it must be closed down."

These people are everywhere and are bores. The council will take readings of the noise made, if it is within tolerance for the zone they are in then the claim will be refuted. If they in breach then they will probably have to taxay to the other side of the airfield to run them at full power.

In fairness they can air drop 21000lbs of weak lemon squash at a range of 2000 miles.

Civil airports and aircraft manufacturers have worked extremely hard over the last 60 years or so to reduce noise.
The Vulcan is a bloody noisy relic that was never based at Southend, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of local residents who thought that Southend would only get busier, not much, much louder.

I'm all for Cold War jets being given a proper airing, and fast taxi runs are more exciting than many airshows now, but I think this guy might have a case.

Once you get past the initial "well may I ask what you expected to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window?" reaction this might be fair.

I wonder how often it is though?

Missed that smile

I honestly thought you were going to say fortnightly or monthly or something.

That does seem an overreaction.

When I was learning to fly a retired ex very senior RAF officer bought a house at the end of the runway.

Constantly complained despite their being a flying training organisation based there for many years.

Flew for parachute club, IT company bought a farmhouse at end of runway at waters edge thinking it would be a quite place to conduct their business, it was until the weekend when the para club operated.
They had viewed the property during the week.
Not helped by the house being downwind from the airfield, prevailing wind meant constantly overflying the house as the paras need the aircraft to fly into wind. Really bad when first timers dropping at 2200’

Should have done their homework, a nearby airfield? Oops.

Nimbys gonna nimby.

buy flat in inner city newly gentrified area opposite nightclub that's been there for decades and then start complaining about the noise.

But complaining about the Vulcan? No. That's a step too far. This chap needs working on.

I would guess the engines are just usual jet engine noise at tickover, doubt if they will be revving it up to generate the Vulcan “howl” personally I love the noise it makes on take off and it is not for a long time.

Reminds you when British aviation was at its best. RIP TSR2
