Seems like everyone had the same idea as me, as it just took us 3 hours 10mins to play 9 holes, we ended up walking in. A ladies society turned up and just played glacially, whole course was backed up! You were looking at queues of 3 groups or more on the tee box.

They were on for a solid 6+ hour round, what’s the longest everyone’s been stuck behind someone?
Slow play boils my blood!
However, we now can now book a time online since covid at mine....
Run a mile if something like that's scheduled in

Same, but we tried to make the most of it. Patience was wearing thin by about the 6th though.

The club we were playing at had just been taken over by the parent company that owns our course, so we can’t see the tee sheet yet, otherwise yeah I would have avoided it.

What's your view on these second hand clubs? They look a great set and price to me.

I'm looking for my first set of clubs. Played when I was younger and also a few times in adulthood (pitch n putt rather than full courses). Very comfortable with the swing although really want to play and get more regularly. I'm 40 this year and battling the mid-life crisis biglaugh

To save you clicking:

£400
Taylormade Burner driver
R580 3 wood
SLDR 4 hybrid
M2 irons
Cleveland 588 52 degree wedge
Mizuno MP T10 lob wedge
Rife putter
Bag
All regular flex

I've googled some of the items and they come out well in excess of this price. Nicely presented and look in good condition.

Any thoughts?

It's a good idea although I don't have any friends who are into golf. Part of what I'd like to do is to start playing with some new people as my social circle is very small these days.

I am tempted to pay for either a single lesson with a pro (£58 for an hour). Or a 5x30 minute ones for £150.

Part of that could be to ask about my swing and best clubs for me

Agreed but it's so annoying when societies are booked at the weekend.

Get onto Pings website, enter your measurements & find a set of Ping irons for £300 - you want G irons. G425 should be well within range. You don’t need a 3 wood or hybrid yet. Driver isn’t a must either.

Half decent putter & lightweight bag.

Spending on lessons is a great idea. Once every 3-6 weeks is the sweet spot when learning the game in my opinion.
Agreed RE that bag, not a fan! biggrin.

1h48 for 9 holes today. 6 hour round is a joke and not enjoyable for anyone.

Can’t be bothered if it’s like that.

Played Thursday… no one went out for 30 minutes before us, yet there was a 4 ball on the 1st green as we teed off. We had a wait on the 2nd tee, so after completing 2 we thought we skip to 4… only to find a group on the tee and another on the green…. They’d been on the course over an hour.

fk 6 hours… 5 hours for a 3 ball medal round was bad enough when I was playing regularly. Now I only play socially I’d rather not bother if it’s that slow.

Mate is a member there, so went back to the clubhouse and got a note for a round another day.

I'd be phoning the pro shop if it was that slow for me, clubs need to do more, no excuses for that pace.

Local rule for the US PGA apparently, range finders are allowed. Definitely something they should do more often imo.

Fair play to Bobby Mac as well, good tournament finished off with quite the eagle on the last.
