Yep, Sturgeon absolutely exploited the "bastirt toaree" effect in a way that no FM before her did.
Humza was going down the exact same toxic path.
I think the picture on the front page of the Herald and Scotsman today unfortunately sums up the past, present and near future of politics in Scotland. Nothing’s likely to change and the same individual appears to still be in charge https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cxe81my5d2yoHumza was going down the exact same toxic path.
Trouble ahead. The leader of the Scottish BMA on Radio Scotland this morning asked how the NHS could be sorted out. Higher pay was the gist of the reply. To which the presenter said "but you got 12.5% last year". The reply being "and an agreement to negotiate in future years. So last year's higher than rUK solution presented as Scotland being better was a 1 year only solution.

Everyone has seen pictures of Sturgeon when she first arrived in politics, and to be truthful not the prettiest bairn in the world, with some women looks is a big thing, I think this has been a factor of her hatred, wake up in the morning look in the mirror and have a bit of a rage.
Cruel yes…but probably true.??

Here's a 'you heard it here first' moment, so mark the date.Rumours rumbling along that a fundamental change in the Scottish schooling system is being seriously considered - shortening the primary school years from seven to six. This is being floated as "bringing Scotland into line with other nations" where children start school later, but in reality it is on the table because drastic cuts are required in Scotland's public services wage bills and this is seen as a way to make them palatable in the education sector.
The ground was already prepared for this in how CfE has been implemented, in particular with regards to Interdisciplinary Learning in the early secondary years Broad General Education (or the Primarification of the Secondary Curriculum as I have been calling it amongst my colleagues for a decade now). In practice this means having (IMO substandard) generic lessons that can be delivered by non-subject specialists to Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 pupils, thus allowing Primary qualified teachers who are surplus to requirements in the shrunken Primary sector to be transferred to posts in Secondary schools to fill the gaps left by retiring secondary teachers.
They will no doubt attempt to spin it as a positive thing, avoiding/denying all accusations that it is yet another step in the downgrading of the quality of the Scottish Education system, necessitated by financial constraints caused by profligacy and wastage and the lack of accountability of the public sector as a result of two decades of incompetent, neglectful SNP oversight coming home to roost.

are no lookers in the party, well none that I've seen anyway, beauty is in the eye of the beholder however and there is likely
to be one or two that think she is gorgeous, Stevie Wonder maybe.
I can see some of the (entirely financial) logic in this, but presumably it would have to be balanced by kids staying in nursery until the start of P2. If that’s the case, then a) where are all these extra places going to come from given the councils seem to have most of theirs filled and the private sector appears to be on its backside b) if the commitment to 30? hours a week nursery education from age 3 remains then surely that’ll eliminate a lot of the saving? c) would that also leave the Scottish Government on the hook for funding nursery places over the summer between what’s now P1 & P2 where parents are currently having to make their own arrangements?
Sounds like another ill thought through policy, so it’ll no doubt be about to happen.

All just to head off immediate infighting (more socially conservative vs woke crackpottery factions) in the SNP if Forbes was leader?

Couple of years of more cash, marginally better pension, the prestige of having a framed photo on the staircase in Bute House and more money on the corporate speaker circuit after retirement?Olivera said:

Fat public funded salary followed by retirement on a fat public funded pension? Can't think of another upside for him. alangla said:

just change the funding model for nurseries, move it forward a year. the funded 30hrs kicks in when your child turns 3, basically roll that forward to 4 and should solve part of the problem. Sounds like another ill thought through policy, so it’ll no doubt be about to happen.
