Going in to a random pub in Newcastle upon Tyne for a pint, and it was free! No catch.

That was in the News I think. They had to give free pints out today in all Greene King pubs
What was that all about then ?

Not today but yesterday.

Kerry Irving completing his "Long Walk Home" 84 miles of Hadrian's Wall in 44 hours raising near £100K for the Great North Air Ambulance

AND

Newcastle coming back from 1-3 down to beat West Ham 4-3. Despite having 3 players limp off to add to their injury list.

Oddly, that last bit had entirely the opposite effect on me.

Up and out earlyish for a walk through the local woods.

A few people around, all said hello, some had happy-looking dogs. One piece of litter in more than two miles. No rain. Good coffee from the hut at the end of the walk.

Getting to the end of the weekend. And realising you still have Sunday and Monday still to go. It doesn’t get better than that!

(Plus the sun is out in all its glory!)

After setting off at 5(4 really) I was happy my car wasn't so damaged after hitting deer that I would need to return home.
I imagine the deer isn't as happy

Waking up for a nighttime wee, realising the time was 01:55, then staying awake to watch 01:59 tick over to 03:00 biggrin
Back to sleep, happy that I caught the missing hour red-handed hehe

Today I have been made happy by discovering that volcanoes can blow smoke rings.

Rode my bike today without leg or arm warmers. First time this year. Took small comedy Jack Russell for walk (and, ah, hmm, pint) now watching Women’s Roubaix highlights.
Off to Southside Hustle tomorrow morning then men’s Paris Roubaix on telly. Hardly a shabby weekend

Drive out in the summer car - roof down when the sun came out.

Then out in the garden - wheelbarrow out of action, so I took to mixing mortar in a bucket for the bed of a paving slab to sit adjacent to the shed base. Trouble is it was so windy that I needed to put the sand and cement in the bucket in the garage and then carry to the end of the back garden, add water from the hose, mix by hand and then push a rhododendron back to dump in the wooden form. And repeat 6 further times….

The purpose of the slab is to hold a water butt - but I’ve had to wait weeks for a free weekend when it hasn’t been raining..!!! biglaugh

Then out to a nearby pub this evening with Mrs and Miss OMITN for food, a couple of pints and a bloody good laugh.

A carbon copy of my day too (except the other way round!)

Pressure washed the patio and garden furniture ready for the (possible chance of) summer, then an 80 mile run out in the Caterham via the best of Berkshire’s, Oxfordshire’s and Wiltshire’s back roads. Got cheery wave’s from a Ferrari 360, a 992 Turbo, an R35 Skyline and a Morgan and back for a lovely bottle of Malbec with Mrs GP. Perfect!

My wife is at a hen party so I've spent the day with my 3 month old daughter and my dog. It's been great to spend some quality time with them

Similar, but I was hugely relieved by the reappearance of one single advisory that disappeared last year, which was for a slight engine oil leak.

After all, the only reason for a 30 year old Rover V8 to have no oil leak is if there's none in it...

Indeed, that's a huge tonic.
