Think the AUS market can have it with a V8 smokin
So I've heard, I presume petrol, maybe that's a bit of an overkill. I'm sure the torque of this diesel is up to the job.

Hhmmm.. it still features the over-complicated emissions and electronic systems necessary for any large-capacity diesel engine - EGR/DMF, common-rail injection, Ad-Blue injection, traction control, etc.

Granted, it's a Toyota, so more likely to be robust and reliable in the short to medium term, however these will all give trouble at some point, so it would be a 'No thanks' from me.
I've done over 30,000 miles in less than two years in my LC with the same engine and 6 speed auto 'box.

No issues so far beer

I imported in some FJ76’s a few years ago 2018 for the INEOS Grenadier project and they were more like £50k each

4.5 V8 Diesel. 200hp and 317lb ft. Definitely not big numbers but will go on forever.

Oh a V8 diesel. Nice one and certainly under no stress. I could imagine all the torque is there all the time and 300k+ miles without touching it other than servicing.

Coming up to 120k and 7 years from my Hilux with a variant of that engine - I've fitted one set of tyres, one set of front brake pads and one set of wiper blades. Nothing but servicing otherwise, haven't even had to change a bulb.

I’ve never owned an SUV, but I think this would be the one for me. It looks so right, so reassuringly normal compared to some of the modern SUVs which look as if they don’t contain any metal in their construction. It’s very good looking for this type of vehicle, and clearly a very high quality. The little detail tweaks like the better headlights and so on make it something like a brand new from the factory 70 series restomod, which is quite the cool thing. Well done, Toyota.

Yes, having taken a LC120 from 50 to 200k miles a few years ago I have a healthy respect for Toyota build quality. However, I don't really see this vehicle as being much different from a modern Hilux dressed up in a retro style bodyshell. Nothing wrong with that per se, just not for me. I don't see it offering anything more, or being more robust than their current modern 4x4's. Cheaper, yes - maybe that's where the appeal lies - however it would have to be a grey import with the downsides that entails (spare part availability, windscreen replacement, etc).

Friend of mine has a Land Cruiser V8 Amazon. It has something like 290k miles on it and its still his daily driver and going strong. its been all across Europe, has seen his family grow up and is now seeing his grand kids. Its certainly going to be his car for life unless emissions legislation kills it off.

Speak with Baz or Andy @ BHP Imports. They imported my car and a friend's car.

Would it comply with EU/UK emissions to allow import though? Isn't that the reason why Suzuki stopped importing Jimny not too long ago?

We had a similar 80 series - used as a workhorse daily for 20 years and for everything else from family holidays to ski trips and teaching my girlfriend to drive. Eventually 30 years of Aberdeenshire road salt meant it failed the MOT on rusty bodywork.

I was working abroad at the time and thought I didn't have the time to fix it so stuck it on Ebay. Still made £6k and it's new owner fixed it up and is now driving it around the world. Selling it was the car decision I regret most, by miles.

This is fantastic! Even at say £40k imported I think that's worth it this day and age.

Ineos: Back to basics 4x4 ... solid axles ... body on frame ... blah blah blah
Toyota: Hold my bīru!

Looks great! Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Ineos basher, but this really is a genuine back-to-basics!

for the first time ever, I think I agree with every comment on here. Toyota - take that as a compliment. Other car manufacturers, take note.

Wonder what the petrol V6 SWB 3 door would cost?

Cause that's the coolest version...
