Useful local resources if you have problems at Le Mans

This thread is now eight years old, so I'll bring you up to date. My advice on tyres stays the same, both specialists still going strong, but 100% Pneus on the Mulsanne straight is no luxury emporium so you may have to wait your turn a while. But their stock is huge and for most cars they will have the right tyre.

For batteries, the only place I go to is ASC Batteries, 26, Boulevard Pierre Lefaucheux (on the dual carriageway towards Le Mans from Arnage). Again, his stock is very comprehensive and as an example I took my E-type battery in for a replacement not expecting to find one but to order and wait. Mine is a positive earth car so the poles are swapped over. Not a bit of it. He looked at and said "same as a DS Citroen" and got one out immediately. That applies to modern cars as well. Moreover, he is the cheapest around.

I know several classic garages who will help in the event of a breakdown so if in trouble contact me and if it is something I think they can help with I'll ring them. Every Classic someone rings me for one of "the usual suspects" for a Jaguar, gaskets and fuel pumps being the most needed, and I do have quite a few bits and pieces in the garage if they are pertinent.

To let you know Midas are no longer there, but Norauto opposite their old place is fine for standard tyres. It's right next to Carrefour. I've mentioned others here for more specialist rubber.
