Yes, thank you for the video, really enjoyed watching that.

I hope you can make some more videos particularly of that lovely Interceptor which must have been a very bold colour choice in the 1970s.

I will - I'll even charge up my gimbal for the next one so you don't have to put up with my wonky phone holding.

Primrose Yellow was the original press colour for the Interceptor Convertible

I watched a video regarding a vvti controller failing on one of these, that would cause issues with idling, as the valve timing gets stuck.

Much less interesting car, but it was an issue on my (and others) GT86.

Not sure if this is barking up the wrong tree, but ChrisTurbo on his R8 thread mentioned Audi trying to do a sneaky update (that he didnt accpet) so their cars comply with new emission regs.

The McLaren document mentions emissions regs, and you say its only happened recently, could it be something like this has happened?

His post is on 9/3/24

The joys of EU legislation / regs…..

...So why are Audi trying their hardest to remove one of the key features of EXISTING owned (not just new) cars?!

They tried to do a ‘routine’ software update on the R8 when it was in for previous service. I like details so asked them what was specifically done within the update rather than just nodding away as I handed the keys over. They didn’t know so I asked for the tech to bring up the release notes. Turns out its only purpose is to alter the noise/volume the R8 produces out of the exhaust.

My car has the sports exhaust update (which is incredible), I flat refused the update. They then made me sign a disclaimer, all very formal. Since then I have had 3 separate calls from their service team each stating there is an urgent update required on my car, again, when challenged it was the same update...

Hmm... that's interesting... thanks for sharing that. My car has a factory sports exhaust also.

I wonder what the static noise difference is between 900rpm (a/c on) and 700rpm (a/c off)... I'll check it. Perhaps they have tweaked the idle speed down to make it comply with regs in another country (thinking something like German TUV tests).

I loved that video - you've got quite a collection there! thumbup

And while I was a little disappointed not to see a recent RHD Mustang the Coupe made up for it!

I’ve had two! A 2018 pre-facelift in Grabber Blue and then a 2019 facelift car in Velocity Blue. I only sold the latter as I thought my C8 Corvette had replaced it, then I sold that banghead

Love the new Mustangs, they’re awesome. 3000 rpm in 6th gear at 115 mph. I had a Dark Horse on order but cancelled it when I saw its no more powerful than the old GT.

I managed a few runs out in the 720S at the weekend and on Monday.. and it's sad to say I'm just not feeling it the way I used to.

I think the time apart and the issues with the garage have just taken their toll too much. I found myself listening to noises the car was making wondering whether it did that before or not, wondering if it was another new issue or not, and I generally just couldn't get comfortable.

So yesterday I took what might be my last drive in it as I took it back down to Premier GT who have taken it on sale or return, so expect to see it appearing on their socials and website in the next 24 hours.

Totally unlike me, I haven't replaced it straight away. I'm going to wait and see what happens and go from there... (God, I sound old and sensible).

If it does sell, there's a few things I have my eye on... Maybe not quite in the league of the 720, we'll see. To be honest, the supercars have dominated life for the last couple of years, it would be good to focus on and use some of the classic a bit more.

Really sorry to hear the 720 has lost its appeal, not surprising given the run around.

So what next , use your classics makes sense though will they get you to Portugal with ease and no hassle.

A replacement, will not be a McLaren, not for now. Another Ferrari maybe?

I know, that's why I mentioned them! I remember reading about the demise of your first one. frown

It's a shame you have fallen out of love with the McLaren but it will be interesting to see what comes next! thumbup

So it's now live on their website.... https://www.premiergt.com/used/cars/mclaren/720s/v...

I do have my eye on something, but I won't say as it would be dependant on the 720 selling, and then it still might not happen. We'll see...

It's Brooklands Mini Day this Sunday, Dad and I are going to take both green Minis up. I had the 1998 LE out the garage today and have given her a bumper to bumper polish and wax, so she's all ready. The RSP has had a coolant flush and change this week, so that's all fit ready to go as well.

That feeling of listening out for noises and a sudden lack of confidence in a car does my head in.
Moving it on at that point is the best decision. Looks bloody lovely in the advert though!
The garage your car is with also have a very nice classic bright orange De Tomaso Pantera for sale… just saying hehe

That belongs to their MD… it’s priced high as he doesn’t want to sell it.

It fired up while I was sat in the office with Harry…

I had to go and have a look!! it’s a lovely thing. Original narrow bodied Pantera without all the wide arches and rear wing that most of them had.

At 6ft5 I think it might be ‘beyond the envelope’

It has stopped stalling, still feels like it wants to but doesn't, and it still feels rough to me with the a/c off, but as McLaren advise, that's normal.

I can only surmise that during its service in January an 'update' has been applied to the car which has changed the idling characteristics for emissions reasons. So it's not faulty, its just the new normal.

Looks utterly fantastic. RHD too. Christ knows what it sounded like!
Crew cut and no shoes could shave a couple of inches off... might be worth a try!
