Just stumbled accross this whilst reading through the updates to the thread. Yes, absolutely. They’ve rang again since too. I guess they are not the only manufacturer that have had pressure put on them too. Never accept a SW update without reading the release notes.

The McLaren document mentions emissions regs, and you say its only happened recently, could it be something like this has happened?

They tried to do a ‘routine’ software update on the R8 when it was in for previous service. I like details so asked them what was specifically done within the update rather than just nodding away as I handed the keys over. They didn’t know so I asked for the tech to bring up the release notes. Turns out its only purpose is to alter the noise/volume the R8 produces out of the exhaust.
My car has the sports exhaust update (which is incredible), I flat refused the update. They then made me sign a disclaimer, all very formal. Since then I have had 3 separate calls from their service team each stating there is an urgent update required on my car, again, when challenged it was the same update...

Popped down to Premier GT today to drop off the service book and car cover for the 720S… not sold yet but then everything is there ready to go. It looked lovely parked in prime position outside… they just need some sunshine!
Had a look at the Pantera, and Harry fired it up inside the showroom, what a thing that is…
The Chiron is pretty special too…
I’ve been running round in the old SL which has been fun. It’s actually great driving a car with no tech, no nav etc, and just enjoying some old school driving.

Well, it’s back!!
The 720S has been with Premier GT for a couple of months now, and with no sign of it selling I went and got it this week so I can start to enjoy the summer with it.
There were a few cars coming on to the market priced quite low, and I really didn’t want to match that price level. I may as well have the car and enjoy it!
After being parked on the drive this week I fired it up this morning and headed down to the new Caffeine and Machine at Meon Hut with my friend Tom in his Vanquish. A great drive out and having not really driven the car since early Jan, I’d forgotten quite how special it is, and how electrifying the performance is.
I think we’re a bit like an old married couple who have taken a bit of a break, a bit of absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I’m booked in for Supercar Sunday at Goodwood in a couple of weeks time, I’ll be parked in Paddock 2 for ‘best of British’ so if you’re there, come and say hi.
