I'm taking the plunge and having the engine rebuilt. I plane on getting the R.R. cam ( its a standards 4.0 2002) but some have suggested that its less drivable with a peaky narrower power band and possibly its idling and road manners aren't as good and to leave it standard. My counter is that the R.R. cam is standard on the rest of the range ( mk2 /s ) so it cant be that bad!

Your thoughts please.

RR cam ? there's no change of cam that I'm aware of ? Just a change of cam timing. Also bigger injectors, higher compression pistons and different ecu chip. Who's doing the build ?

Sorry meant cam timings.

Didn't thing R.R. was bigger injector though. Does the compression change too with different piston crowns? I thought these changes where just for the MK2 /s.

Please fill in my missing knowledge!

So Im finding conflicting info on the R.R.

New pistons ( 1mm dish)
ECU flash
Cam timings
Bigger injectors (???)

I guess what I really want to know is does anyone have 1st hand experience with one and does the extra hp have a drivability trade off?

It's all worth about 20-25hp over a std 4.0 engine.

If Dom @power is doing the rebuild , I think it's worth considering getting the new MBE ECU since the original is now obsolete. Then you can get anti knock sensors fitted.

Some say the Red Rose upgrade was more often than not just a deftly scribbled in marker pen “Red Rose” or “RR” on the block.

I have a Red Rose with many options as : big bore system, big brakes at the front, vinylester body (1118 kg with all fluids that appears to be quite low).

What i can say is that the company that registered the car in France was surprised by the power of my T350 compared to others T350's. And even Sag's.

I'm part of the french club and i can tell you that i follow without problem sag's. And let behind other T350 and Tuscan.

My engine appears to be a 4.0s btw as TVR Power told to the previous owner
