There is nothing delightful about having small boys shrieking and screaming next door.

There should be remote islands specifically for everyone that decides to have kids and dogs, with a law that enforces them to live there. Then the rest of us can enjoy some peace and quiet.
I thought you were against laws enforcing people to do things biggrin

What was it like being created by parthenogenesis aged 63?

It's interesting you say this, I have three children now 3/6/10 and we're always very mindful of them being overly loud, in our last house which had a relatively small garden and was a semi detached we'd always say to them that others don't want to hear them whining or fighting. That said they love to play outside and they do make some noise albeit usually laughing and giggling at each other. They're by no means perfect angels but we're aware of how noisy kids can be.

Our old neighbours commented to us how nice it is to hear them having fun and we had an older couple invite us round for a drink and to let the kids play in their garden partly for the same reason.

By contrast, the next door neighbour we used to have had two kids, the oldest must be 22/23 now. They were just noisy all the time, shouting, fighting, whining, slamming doors etc. Astounded us how the parents never felt the need to tell them to be quiet, lived next to them 14 years and the noise levels never died down and the parents were oblivious.

As for noisy kids I think the parents just get de-sensitised to all the banging, crashing, screeching, shouting etc and just let the kids get on with it.
I think some have the opinion "I have to put up with my kids noise so everyone else can". tts
I've got 4 kids. Ages spread out between 2 and 14. If they are arguing outside, or making too much noise I will ask them to keep it down - but that only generates "he/she started it", and another ensuing argument. And then, when I go back in, they will goad each other in to shouting/screaming some more - and then my raised voice adds to the mix telling them all to pack it in. So usually best to leave it, and they will pipe down after a few minutes.

However, other neighbours have dogs, grandkids, etc so it's not like we are the beacon of noise and antisocialibility.

They can bounce on their trampoline for hours and hours at a time and not fight or they race up and down the hill on their bikes without a care in the world, dressed up as spiderman, superman and woody etc. I know they'll likely change, but for now it is a delight to hear their absolute enthusiasm for life, it's life affirming.
This all day long.
We have fairly new neighbours, since October last year, with two wee boys. A four year old and a six or seven year old.
Nice family and the kids are delightful. They have beautiful manners and always ask if it's okay to play with Cookie, my terrier. They were helping me to pull weeds at the weekend and they have taken to visiting me in my workshop. I went and checked with Mum that she's okay with them hanging out with me. She said it's good as the boys don't have any living grandfathers.
(Yeah; cheers for that, lol!)
You're right; life affirming for an old retired bloke. I like having them around. For now anyway - they'll turn into strop-monsters soon enough I suppose.

My sister is considerate of others when it suits her agenda

She was moaning about a neighbours kid on their trampoline, few year later she moves after having a kid and shoves the trampoline right down the bottom of the garden as the noise is annoying - fk the neighbours

Some with her bloody barking dog, kicks up a fuss over other dogs, but forgets her dog yaps all the time, selfish tt. Don’t know where she gets it from as both my folks are considerate of others
