At the weekend then Riverside Museum in glasthad a display of fire engines outside, some really old, and quite a few newer ones that kids could sit in. Extremely popular.
Sunday, someone brings a WW2 Willy's Jeep to park next to them and for kids to sit in.
I've no idea why, it's not fire related at all, he may have been invited,or just turned up, I don't know, but it was just so incongruous.
At least the bloke with it wasn't in uniform
In fairness, you’d need quite a dose of the mental to be walting as a WW2 yank soldier in 21st century Glasgow! biggrin

Has been claiming some kind of disability then? He’d better get the dole poles ready for the cameras…
I don't think that has been mentioned, but there are various possible offences, depending on what hard evidence they uncovered. I think the main one is that his military service/record may have had a bearing on the decision to appoint him to the Chief Constable role, and to previous roles, possibly even the admission into his first police job. Secondly, I'd think a general misconduct in public office might be considered? I don't think anybody uncovered a direct written quote by him saying that he served in the Falklands or as an officer, but even if there is nothing then it's plainly obvious that he would have known that it was regularly published about him, and it would surely be misconduct for him to not have ever corrected the record.

edit: Just looked if any further info had been posted, one guy doing some digging (by "Simon Tilley") seems to have worked out that even Adderley's brother's medal doesn't make sense. He was apparently on MV Cedarbank, which was chartered 3 days after the cut-off for eligibility for the rosette.

That's both sinister and concerning at the dreadful response.

A civilian worker, working for a contractor, waving around what purports to be a warrant card. That smacks very much of a guy with a small penis and a huge Walter Mitty complex.

"Northamptonshire Police has also revealed that there was no record of the man returning his ID card when he stopped working for the contractor. It says that while the card would have had a Northamptonshire Police crest, it would have been stamped with the words “not a warrant card” and would not have been in a small black wallet. It added that practices for returning cards have now been tightened up."

Nice!

There are a number of people at both Northamptonshire and Leicestershire police forces that should be answering some hard questions about their handling of that complaint.

Although it is most likely simple incompetence on the part of those dealing with the matter, it will provide more fuel for those who believe that the police close ranks and defend their own whenever one of them screws up.

I don't know in what capacity he was employed, but why on earth is he given anything that even vaguely resembles a warrant card?

And this carry-on of bouncing the complaint back and forth between different forces is ridiculous.

I'm sure it's just plain old incompetence, but in light of recent events it's really quite something that not one person out of many who saw or heard of that complaint had enough sense to realise how it would look to do absolutely fk all about it like they do with 99% of all reported crimes.

They should have tured up at Walt's house at 3am like the Hand of God itself, chucked him in the cells for a few hours, given him a few hours of relentless miserable questioning, gone through his phones and computers to see what other creepy predatory st he gets up to, and made sure the local papers heard all about it to try and demonstrate they actually understand and care how troubling these people are and how dangerous they could be.

Walt wants sticking on a watchlist of some sort, that's for sure.

What the fk is wrong with these people?

Many years ago, I got pulled over in Hertfordshire very late one night by a black unmarked A3 with blue strobes in the front grille. When I got out, the guy that had pulled me over must have been about 21, had a girl in the front of the car who looked about 18, and when I asked what he wanted, and could he show me any ID, he got shirty and said a marked Traffic car was on it's way. I told him to fk off, and I would be carrying on down whatever road I was driving on (A428 maybe) and they would be able to find me and pull me over then, and just drove off. I saw nothing else. Didn't bother reporting it because it was 2 hours later when I got home and I was knackered, and more bemused than anything else, but it makes me think it happens more often than we all think.

I had some saddo tt on a motorbike pull the same thing on me about 20 years ago, when I realised he was a Walt and told him to fk off he got really quite nasty and was saying he'd be following me and "deal with me" at my destination. I told him if he came within 50 yards of me I'd ram him off the road and he finally got the message.

I reported him to the police and it was dealt with in the prompt and professional manner one would expect.

I never heard anything back, of course. Didn't see him again despite using the same road at roughly the same time of day for a fair while.

Indeed , and I’ve found this for Northamptonshire Police Walts too.

Pretty sure I saw a POLITE impersonator today. M4 West from Maidenhead, mid morning, light traffic. Alternate flashing headlights moving the driver ahead of it over from lane 3, then blue tinged alternate flashing reverse lights and a not-very-loud siren as it mooched off at not much over 70, beeping at the car it had just been up to and passed.... it was a 68, maybe 58 plated grubby Mondeo hatch in black. Single occupant, didn't get a decent look...

Been commuting this stretch for too long and have seen unmarked XC90s and SEATs light up like the Close Encounters UFOs when they get a shout on the move.. really hoping to see it again and get the 'plate

You don't break the Blue code. Any copper will tell you that. Doesn't matter how abhorrent the crime, they'll never grass one of their own up. Always stick together, lie and cover up.

What utter nonsense.

For starters the lunatic in question wasn't a cop. Furthermore, plenty of cops have been reported or nicked for all manner of offences.

Did someone in blue piss on your cereal?
