As a Wolves fan it'll be interesting to see how J-Lo is with you guys.

He did a job in keeping us up during a season when everyone had us pinned to go down.

He did however throw his toys out of the pram, continually whinged about not being able to spend much, and every week seemed to be doing media interviews where he'd keep going on about how he is in discussions with lots of "big clubs", while still being Wolves manager. He then left 3 days before the start of the season. He's very happy to suddenly just storm out in a strop hehe

Generally seemed like he thought he was doing us a favour by being here, which when coupled with the absolutely awful football we played under him, means most Wolves fans don't think too highly of him.

After you guys having to watch Moyes-ball for so long, he'll need to completely bin off that play style or he won't last long with the fans.
I can see him either being a massive success or massive failure with WH, no middle ground biggrin
Sounds like he's just the man for our clown show club.

Sigh.
Beat me to it biggrin

As you can tell there hasn't been a huge hurrah on this page from his appointment.
The main issue is that Moyes has completely fked the club from a legacy point of view, there is no youth coming through, average age is way higher than it should be, we are looking at players moving on in the summer to add to the disruption.

Win % for 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 combined 32%
Win % for calendar year 2024 17%

I think we can safely say we got the best and worst out of Moyes lol

Across the four leagues, what unites United's is that most United's have had crap 2023/24 seasons.

Its amazing looking online just how many non West Ham fans think they have it all worked out. How we are all 'celebrating' the new manager, how we are so lucky to have Moyes, how he has been treated so badly, how we have performed so well with him and so lucky to be in the top half of the table.

I cant really remember such a wide group of football fans get so sucked into the punditry nonsense as I have seen over the last couple of months as I have with this. Just shows how gullible some people are.

The media campaign against West Ham supporters has been quite extraordinary. I don't recollect such hysteria from them when Man Utd fans were wearing their green and yellow scarves or Newcastle fans waving Mike Ashley out banners. Moyes is seems is beyond criticism. Lineker, Shearer et al completely ignore that most supporters agree that over the four years he has done well but the league form over the last 18 months has been dreadful.

From the outside looking in......last I looked you were in 9th spot and since West Ham came back up from the Championship that looks about your average finishing position, maybe a bit better. Under Moyes you've been consistently top half of the table.

Moyes has managed to reestablish West Ham as a safe premier league team and also got the trophy monkey off the club's back.

But even immediately after that Europa League win there was "Moyes Out" noises - seems he was always considered not got enough by a section of supporters?

Do you think Lopetegui will get you say....top 6 on a regular basis and get you in the hunt for trophies?

Pathetic by Aberdeen. I’d rather we lose 4-2 and have a go rather than trying to contain Rangers and hope for a lucky break. As usual out with a whimper - zero ambition.

14th last season having been just above the relegation spots most of the season... (people that support other teams don't see this).
As for J- Lop, I have no idea because I know zero about him.
Having supported West Ham 60 years I have learnt to have no great expectations (unlike say, Man U fans that expect to win everything) however 70 goals conceded and the worst home defeat 0:6 since before I started following them says why so many supporters are less enamoured with Moyes.

I think the move away from the Boleyn Ground underlies a lot of discontent. We now have the second highest attendances in the PL, we have this massive, albeit soulless, stadium but a lot of the time in the last few years we've been playing Championship level football. I think there was an assumption that we were taking a step up to the next level when we moved.

This post is from another thread but for non-West Ham people looking in on this thread I think it sums up the issue rather well.

"What Moyes has done for the club has been brilliant, but it's been diminishing returns in terms of being able to negotiate a 38 game league season alongside cup fixtures. In each of the last four seasons we've run out of steam in the league.
In 20/21 we had a realistic shot at Champions league but flagged and got a very commendable 6th place.
In 21/22 we had a real chance of Europa League, but handed the place to Man Utd as we ran out of steam (due to a very commendable Europa run).
In 22/23 we limped over the line to finish 14th but it was okay because the Conference League win was a huge achievement for the club.
This season it's looking like somewhere between 9th and 12th with no silverware or Europe to compensate, and we're now getting regularly walloped by teams we should be able to compete with."

This is very true…..

It’s always easier to be dispassionate about other teams.

Having said that I’d give my left nut for midtable security and a trophy last year!

And it’s this view that I’m talking about

Didn’t mention last seasons atrocious league campaign where we fortunately scrambled away from relegation with three games left…no pundits seem to mention this as it doesn’t fit their agenda, non West Ham fans don’t see this

A run of freak results pre-Christmas bumped us up but since then we have won just FOUR out of twenty four. Only three teams played worse, would any team in the top half be happy with that type of form

We had good times of course. But West Ham fans who understand what’s happening, have seen the malaise setting in for some time. If Moyes stayed on, we would have been relegation probable next season as he has not built a team that can improve, only one that will deteriorate given the average age of the first eleven is around 30.

I fully expect next season to be tough, not because of the manager change, but because of the lack of legacy and squad building over the last 18 months.

Jeez I only showed an interest in your club….and with all the noise about Moyes being replaced I thought I’d ask in here.

Enjoy the lopetegui years!
